I guess they took me seriously!

I had to be at work at 5 am today. I normally don't work until the evening, so I am not used to being up so early. I did not manage to get any sleep between just not being tired and my daughter up at 3 am throwing up and having to change her bedding. I was really tired when I got home from work, so I decided to take a nap. I jokingly called to my sister, son, and daughter as I was laying down in bed to not wake me up until tomorrow.
I guess they believed me because NO ONE woke me up. I ended up sleeping through my sister making dinner, cleaning up, and heading out to meet a friend. I woke up after the sun was down with my kids sitting on the couch playing on my sisters iPad and iPhone and her gone. I know they were all trying to be nice, but they let me sleep the day away.
When was the last time you slept the day away? Do you ever have people take you seriously when you are only joking?

Sounds like a funny situtation you have there. Of course i have slept the day away. Having not slept for 2days in a villa, on the third day when i reached home, i slept the day away. Its quite funny how some people will take jokes seriously, guess they do not really have the skills to differentiate jokes and reality?

hi lilybug oh yes on ce here I was very tired as I had had a restless night, an d after we went down for breakfast I came b ack
here and laid down for a short morning nap and the housekeeping staff member did n ot disturb me so I overslept and
my ditsy roomie was also sleeping, not unusual for her as she does this every d ay but it was elev en thirty and we were to be down for lunch at 11 o clock. okay so I wake her up no mean task and tell her "we are late so come on and get downstairs for lunch". I managed to get them to give me m lunch and my ditsy roomie just went back to sleep lol.So she woke up then and
went down and asked for lunch and they had to make her a sandwich.
I did not do this again as it fowls up things for the kitchen stall too much. See I am living in a retirement center not to be confused with a nursing home as it is not anything like a
nursing home. we are not sick, we have no nurses here not even a doctor, so we are just retired people of all ages with some small physical handicap so we need some , very little, help.

But if you were able to sleep that long, and they were letting you, it was probably because your body needed it. There are times when your body shuts down and all it can do it sleep. The last time I did this was the day I came home from the Emergency room just a short time ago. I slept like 15 hrs. got up and made a couple of phone calls, and then went back to sleep. But I know this was the best thing for me, and I am sure what my body needed.

At least you got some sleep! I used to work two jobs all the time. I remember coming home from one job and taking a nap...I slept so hard when I woke up I couldn't figure out if it was day or night or which job I was supposed to be at...I hadn't asked anyone to wake me up though....Usually if I asked not to be woke up that was a sure indication someone couldn't live without me and of course had to wake me up often several times!

I slept the whole day when I went back to Germany after Christmas the year I was studying there. I had gotten the flu or something and that plus jet lag plus the long flight just knocked me out. I woke up and it was dark and I heard people talking in the kitchen. I thought it was 6 am, but it was 6 pm and I had slept almost 24 hours.

They were so considerate towards you. They would never consider what you said to be a joke, they knew well you nearly stayed up all night last night and let you catch up on lost sleep. How come you daughter threw up at 3 am? Didn't she recover from stomach flu?

I slept the day away a coupl eof days ago. My neck went ut. When that happens it feels like a migraine and I suffer in pain if I can not sleep it off.
Yes, I have people wh take me seriously when I am joking. Because I use to be so wound up that I rarely ever joked. I was always serious. Luckily, I have found my funny bone. But certain people still find it hard to believe that I can tell a joke.

yes because that too its early in the morning and having some kind of play like this will ideally make us lose the sleep for sure
