Thanks to ebay and a coupld of little tricks I figured out I was able to get my husband a saxophone for christmas. He has always talked about wanting one he use to play when he was in school and was really good at it. He talked about getting one some day so he play in the band at church. Well one day right before christmas I ventured onto ebay I searched all thruogh the musical insturments section of ebay found a couple that looked really nice and bidded on them first I got outbided and it ended up going way out of my price range that I could afford. So I sat there on ebay and watched for awhile and I searched again for alto saxophones in ebay found some more but this time I paid attention to the amount of time the auction was held for and I paid particular attention to those that had no bids or only one bid I put those on my watch list and keep an eye on them and I waited till the last 15 minutes and started the biding. No one out bid me and I won it. When he got his instrument it was better than I had hope for he is so happy. Everyone at church keeps asking me how I got his saxophone and my violin for under $100 I explained it to them and they are so surprised. My violin was in auction as well but with the buy now option and that price was within my budge so I chose that option for my violin. Some items depending on what they are if you can afford the buy it now option and dont want to wait out the auction time then you can do that. However this reminds me of the old wise saying that patience is a viture and in this case it certainly is and certainly paid off. I got both of my items for under $100 oh and I got free shipping too so that really help save money. Yes I think it's safe to say I will return to ebay lol.

Congratulations on having such success! I was a seller on eBay for a long time, but after being burned by a couple of bidders that didn't follow through with paying (and with eBay's new rules, I couldn't even warn others about them!), I stopped selling. The fees that the sellers have to pay aren't worth my time either. But I am happy to hear that someone was able to get what they wanted!

thank you and I completely agree with you on the selling end of ebay. I tried a few times and quit it because of the same reasons you said. But on the buying end of it not a bad deal for the honest buyers. hopefully ebay will change some rules to protect the sellers.

From what I've seen, eBay changed their rules to protect the buyers and sellers be damned! It makes me think of Facebook and all of the changes that they keep making. It IS fun to go shopping there-I agree! I've been a member for 15 years-they even sent me a certificate to print out and hang on the wall! I loved it back them-if you were patient and diligent, you could get some really incredible deals! They only had one subheading for Antiques and ANY type of antique was listed there!
