Do you prepare your house for guest

This weekend is an extra special weekend for me and my family as I am preapring for my dad and step mom to arrive. They should be here in the next day or two. I've only seen my dad a couple of times because my mom did everything she could to keep us apart. Tonight after we went an paid the bills and supplies for the house and groceries. I got a few extra specials that I knew my dad liked. Tonight my husband is helping me shampoo all the carpets and I have cleaned the kitchen and our bedroom and saw to it that my children got their room in order. I even gave our cats their monthly baths, yes we bath our cats because most of the treatments that are used to treat for fleas have something in them that make me and my 3 year old break out. Their indoor cats but you can never be too careful we started them from when they were kittens and they actually quit like it. so right now Im taking a little break then back to finishing up to making sure everything is just right. I like for my house to be warm and inviting and for everyone to be comfortable. Do you do anything special when you have family or friends over?

It is already a tradition here in our locality to have something special every time there are guests and friends coming over to the house. I can still remember the most recent event wherein my aunt told us that they might stay in our house. So the next morning my father bought some cushions for the possible guests, in which our bed does not have any cushions at all.

AW!, that's very sweet kenshin I think it's good to make your guest feel comfortable. Everyone always tells me I go a bit overboard but I guess Im extra nervous because this is the first time for my dad to be in my house.

it all depends on the neighbour but generally i take some effort to keep it tidy and good to attract the neighbour and look pleasant

I got a guest suddenly come over and stay without my knowledge earlier. My brother just come home with him and then only tell that he is going to stay over. I actually didn't manage to prepare anything like you do. I just let him sleep at the hall on the couch. That is all to it. It is kind of surprise thing isn't it?

My house is always prepared for a visitor everyday.My wife's always cleaning all parts of the house everyday and I am happy with that. I can really say that my house is really ready for a visitor anytime. Even me, i fell very comfortable every time I go home. Everything is clean all over the place.

Just a little because I am also busy outside so having a general cleaning is not happening to me any time soon even if I have a guest coming. But I do try to make the place cleaner than usual.

Hi for me Im not expecting company over yet. but
since I"m in the market looking for that specail
lady. im starting to give my apt. I real clean
over and keep it that way. If I keep my place
clean i be ready for that speical lady and
if any of my friends drop by. this way no worries.
I use to work food service, so this is how I clean
Monday rest rooms, Tuesday Kitchen, Wensday living room/bedroom
and Thursday the stairs, and Im done for the week.then
Monday do it all over again, I make sure there no chores to be done
on weekends.ok have a good day.

That's a very good schedule you have. Chores on the weekend lol well when their are 5 children living at home there are chores to do all the time lol. I pretty much clean everyday.

yeah of course I do it and all I know do the same. it is like a tradition which most of us follow. It is good to prepare for the visitors. i am glad you are meeting your dad and yeah i know he will be glad to see the house so neat because you prepared it for them. good day.

WOW, thank you everyone for all your comments on this post. Yes I see most of do something special when we have guest. I do clean everyday and my husband has told me several times to calm down and slow down. I guess that's just me. They will be here tomorrow and I think the house is in order expect vaccumig the living room one last time even though my husband says it's fine lol.

When we have visitors that will arrive in our house my family and I see to it that our house is well prepared and cleaned.. and we also prepares for the food and we also make sure that the food that is being prepared will be like by them.. when we hve visitors even if it is not a relative we are so accomodating maybe because we don't want something negative will tell about us..

It's usually my mother in law who comes over pretty often. She loves to spend time playing with her grandchildren. My kids love her too. She is a warm-hearted and friendly woman who can get along well with us and our neighbors. My wife and I always make our house as clean and comfortable as possible for her to stay.

I do it especially when my parents are visiting my house. But I clean my house everyday. I'm just changing curtains and sheets when I have visitors coming. I do special cleaning when it's my parents because I don't want them nagging me about things. I do grocery and cook for them, too. But sometimes, my mom still have comments like change the position of furniture in the living room or I don't have much food stock in my ref or my house is not getting enough ventilation.

My mother is like that too, especially to her grandchildren. She always has something to comment about what they should or should not wear or do. My kids often find it too much and grumble behind her back :)) I can see that she does that out of love and care though.

Hi christylynn41, I would be glad if my husband side or my sibling families or friends inform us in advance like a day or two before visiting to house. I like my house looks rather decent and have enough food prepared to entertain them warmly 
If not either my hubby or I will serve them having drinks and dessert in the nearby coffee shop. So that either one of us can tidy the house and room for them. It would be comfortable for them to be at house that is clean and comfy

Hello christylynn. We have a guest room for guests. When there is someone coming to us for a visit, we always prepare the room for out honored guest to make them feel inviting and comfortable. Take care.

Very nice, you are now going to meet your father and step mother. This is very necessary to clean and decorate our house if some guests or our relatives arrive. If we do not do this than they will think that what the life we are living. So prepare your house as you are going to celebrate your father's arrival.

I do not, as I have 5 bedrooms here for just me. I have 2 rooms all ready for if someone needs a place to sleep or just comes for a visit. I clean my home almost everyday, so I ready dont have to do anything for when guests come here...
