It is a little difficult to choose a suitable present for her.

As we finished our dinner,my wife and I sat tegother before the TV set, talking about our daily life.Suddenly she complained that it was quite long since last time I bought some present for her.I agreed with her,and asked her what she want for the coming new year day.She just asked me to consider it myself. But it was really difficult for persons like me who hardly thought about sending girls or women presents to deal with such business.
So I had to ask her again for some advice, but she just replied that she needed something romantic and economical.Flowers? She said I had always sent her flowers like roses, which in her heart had become boring and useless.Cakes? She said it would make her fat.
So at last,I came to no end to resolve the problem.
Guys, would you please offer me some suggestions? Thanks!

Oh dear she sounds like me, although ... if I had to ask my husband for a present and he would only give it to me than, it would not count for me. does she have any hobbies? Something she really likes to do?
Romantic.. I think the only romantic thing I can think out (which won't make you fat) is an unexpected trip/holiday to a place (or person or theatre or movie or ...). Althoug this is not economical but more as flowers (they are expensive and die in no time) or chocolates (way too boring). My 22 year old daughter says it's also useless to get something you can buy yourself.
So I would go for the "memory" (still the trip). Ever had a honeymoon? Perhaps you can do that again.. just so to start the new year? If it comes to that I would not care about the economical part. You can also give her (as a hint) a bag (to pack her stuff) or a nice skirt, dress, towel, or whatever one may need to go for that trip. Use the bag (with some stuff) as a hint/present (she can use that again) for that trip (right away or in advance).

Well,in August her company gave her one week to leave for some places of interests, but I had no time that time.So she cancelled her holiday, and just stayed at home with me.
Anyway, your advice have given me some ideas.I will buy some chocolate and a ticket for a movie on the new year's day.I think we will enjoy ourselves.
Thank you!
