How much studying is enough?

It has been a while since I have needed to get back into studying mode. I have not taken a college course in over a year and I am trying to prepare for my GREs so that I may apply to graduate school. As it is a standardized test, there is only so much that you can prepare for. How much studying is enough? Have you taken the GRE or another standardized test? Is it the length of time you spend studying (X number of hours a week for X months) or the number of practice tests that you take that is important? I signed up for the exam already in hopes of motivating myself to get down to business. However, I do not know which method of studying would be more beneficial. Should my goal be to create a consistent schedule of studying or should it be to complete a certain number of practice tests before my test date?

How much time do you have before the exam? There are several preparation materials available, including some from the GRE website. If you are considering spending any money with that and you have a stable Internet connection, I would recommend using Magoosh.com as your main source. When I took the GRE about 7 months ago, I split the fee with a friend and we got a year membership (she is taking the test now). It was great because it was so similar to the test in format, types of questions, and it offered the best way to refresh the material by showing me how to solve the problems in video. I only studied for 2 months while working full-time, but I wish that I had set aside more time and started Magoosh earlier. In the beginning, I felt so lost trying to figure out what and how to study! It has been 4 years since I was in college, so I was really out of practice! I think you should take a practice test to figure out what you need to study, and review everything before the test. Spend extra time on your trouble areas and make sure to read some GRE Test-taking tips as well. Since time is an issue, it helps to review shortcuts and memorize certain calculations (especially with triangles). Best of luck to you!

It varies, and depend upon the student.Where a student take 4 hrs to complete his study also a student takes 8 hrs to complete the same study. So,it's upto you how much time you need to complete your study.
