Do you view your computer as yours?

I view my computer as my computer. My mother got it for me. And I feel when I need to be on it then I should. I don't think I should have to argue with anyone about being on it. My schedule is busy as it is and when my daughter is laying down then I need to get as much work done online as possible. Even though I don't earn a lot every little extra helps for me. My husband can afford to buy his own computer so I feel he should do that. He spent money on buying a new x-box,games etc. And then he wants to spend hours on it when I should be getting work done while I can. I told him he should get himself a laptop, to me having a computer does a lot more for me than a gaming system. I don't try to spend hours on his game system when he's planning to be on it.

It's a question of mutual understanding, I had the exact same issue up until a few months ago. I've been unemployed for more than 18 months and I try to spend every free minute at my computer so that I can make some extra finances to support the family budget. During the day I do all the housework and as much online work as I can but the time is never enough so after I put my daughter to sleep in the evening, I start over. But many times mu husband occupied the computer (It's mine, for that matter) to watch films or videos on Youtube, so there were times when I have waited for him to finish for hours. Then my work continued until 3-4 AM. So I decided we should talk about this and we did and we just made a compromise and a schedule that was convenient for both of us. Talk and compromise, mutual understanding. That's the catch.

Yeah I understand what you mean. Your schedule activities sound so similar to mine. I try to spend any extra time getting work done online. And often times I have to stay up late. Today I told him that when our daughter and I lay down he can use the computer. Since I stayed up until two this morning and had to get up at seven thirty this morning, I'm getting tired. So as long as he's using it when I'm sleeping or doing others things I don't mind as long as It doesn't take all day.

I do.I persuaded my mother to buy it for me and i use i mot of the time.It ahs served quite well and I'm not willing to barter it just yet for a newer or less sued one. I guess because I did have soemtihng or formed an attachment to it. Anyway, I also pay for its upkeep like repair or adding extra hardware. Also,my sibling doesn't touch my computer since he has his won and we have a difference when it comes to settings. I hate mine to have games in it since it will take a lot of memory and less time to do my work. Sharing internet is bad enough.

I agree with what your saying about games. I can imagine how many games my husband would want to put on the computer if he could. It does take up a lot of space and it makes the computer go very slow. I'm glad to hear that your brother has his own computer. I'm hoping that my husband will get his own in time.

I share this computer with my husband and even that is sometimes a pain in the rear end to say the least. When he is home he wants to be on watching movies and I want to be here at MyLot. It makes things difficult, I cannot afford to buy another computer unfortunately! I wish I could. Lol. For the most part this is MY computer but my husband does go on it too sometimes...

Yeah I understand what you mean about not buying another computer. My husband works full time and so he often has more money. I only work a few hours a week/ and then do stuff online. So I can't afford to buy much. But he chooses to do what he wants with the extra money so i think he should get a laptop then he can watch movies, play games, look up stuff, etc. But with his xbox all he can do is mainly play games.

I consider this mine :) My father bought this because I convinced him to buy this so I can have some online jobs and then he agreed. After how many months, my cousin who lives at our house can use this for some research but she was always making it sure that she uses it before I woke up or else she can't use it :) hahaha. I usually woke up at 9 or 10 am while she wakes up early at about 5:30-6 am because she's going to college. I used the computer the whole time for facebook and on line jobs and of course mylotting :) Sometimes I get tired and my mom would ask me to get out because she wanted to play Plant vs. Zombies and Dinner Dash hahaha. I don't allow my nephews to use my computer because I know kids are very aggressive and they might delete some files or maybe they might encounter a virus and I don't want it to happen. My cousin can use the computer if I would ask her if she wants to scan her facebook then she would use it. I feel very incomplete in a day if I can't be on my computer :)

Yeah it is fine when others want to use our computer when we aren't on it. But when they try and use it at times when we need to be on it that gets annoying. Especially for me. So I'm hoping that he will eventually buy himself one. That will be a great relief for me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Yes, I view my computer as something for me to use. I bought it with money I earned from working. Despite what anyone else says, I would think that because I purchased it with my money, it's mine.

Yeah I agree with you. I know that at times my husband get's frustrated about how I feel about using my computer but he shouldn't. He makes almost four times as much as I do so he can buy his own computer and stop trying to take over mine. Thanks for your comments. I appreciate it.

Hey Dominique I feel your husband is being rude and inconsiderate of you this is a pure invasion of privacy. The computer is yours not His if he has the means of getting his own then he should do so. Like you said in your discussion here you dont bother him when he is playing his games and you dont invade his privacy by going on His game system while he is playing.it He should show more consideration for you. He should ask you first and say honey do you need to use the computer. Maybe there should be some sort of schedule in place so there is no conflict. And if that does not work then it time for Him to purchase His own then he can stay on it as long as he desires. Hope these suggestions help because right now you seems frustrated and at wits end. Father God in the Name of Jesus I Pray that you give this person wisdom knowledge and understanding in all things on how to deal with the situation at hand In Jesus Name I Pray Amen

I completely agree with you. I'm trying to get him into using the computer when my daughter and I are gone or when we are laying down for a nap. That way he gets done what he would like to and when it's time for me to be on the computer I can. The other day he was just talking about how he wants to buy some video game. Which video games are very expensive. They can cost $50. So instead of doing that he should prepare himself to buy a laptop. Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate it. I will keep working at this. I hope that he ends up getting his own computer. He just bought a small business so I told him that this is even more of a reason for him to buy one. But he keeps saying he doesn't need to buy one. Which he does because I do not want him spending three hours every evening on my computer trying to take care of stuff for his business.

My mother and I share the main computer that we have in our house, but it's no big deal because she doesn't use it that much. I am the one who uses it the most. I have two computers in my house. My desktop computer, which is the main home computer, and then there is my laptop which is my very own computer. I own it, I paid for it, and it's mine, but I use it for stuff that I can't use my main home computer for. Just recently, my family used my laptop to Skype my other family in Montana. That was pretty neat.

It is nice that you have two computers in your house. I can't wait until we have another one in our home. Hopefully it will be in the near future. Yeah my mother isn't into computers either. One time I was trying to show her how to do something and it was taking her a long time to get the mouse to do what she wanted it to. We both laughed a lot that day.

Since I live alone I don't share my computer with anyone. Sometimes when my son and d/i/l come over they may use it for a couple of minutes but that's ok as long as they don't download anything on it.

Yeah I agree with you. Downloading things can be scary and it can slow down our computer. Sometimes I have to remind my husband not to download anything because I don't want to get a virus on my computer. It would cost too much money to fix it.

My husband and I have two laptops and two internet connections so we are both able to use the internet at the same time. In the beginning of our relationship we shared my computer and we often wanted to use it at the same time. That lead to several arguments, and it was a little stressful sometimes, because my husband was impatient and he kept asking me when he could use it. I am very happy that we have two computers now because that gives me more freedom and I am able to use the computer whenever I choose.

That is great that you and your husband have separate laptops and internet connections. I think if we had that things would be so much better for us. Having those separate computers does create less stress.Which is always better in any given situation.

I'm glad that you have your computer to yourself. I'm sure that your daughter is happy that she has her own so that she doesn't have to ask you to use yours. Thanks for sharing your comments. I appreciate it.

I feel the same way if it is your computer then you should have the right to be on it whenever you need it. I guess that is why me and my husband have our separate computers. Because my husband likes to do some internet searching whenever he comes home from work. With all the things that I like to do on my laptop I like to do gaming and surf the internet as well as mylot. So I spend a lot of time on my laptop whenever I am home from work. So it just be best if we had separate computers. Yea, if your husband likes to do all the things that he does then he should go out and buy his own computer especially if he has the money for it.

It is definitely a good idea to have separate computers. It just makes life so much easier. I too spend a lot of time on my computer. I'm hoping that my husband will soon get himself a laptop. It would make things so much better. He will be needing to get one because he has so much that he wants to do and he has recently bought a small business as well.

I own my computer, and hubby has his own too. We needed to have our own due to our work. It's hard to share when you both need to do some stuff in your computer. So hubby has a laptop and I have my netbook. I'm thankful that hubby don't play online games or any computer games anymore. She's very responsible now with doing stuff online and of course I'm a proud wife. Hubby and I don't argue about who would use the computer.

Yeah I understand what you mean. There are a lot of things that each person wants to do when they are on the computer. I hope that my husband will soon buy him a computer. He will be needing to get himself one because he has a small business and if it is too branch out he will need to have a computer to take care of the paperwork, etc.

In this day and age where people do a variety of things on the internet including work, emails, writing, studying, research, news, etc. It's pretty crucial to have your own machine if you can afford it like you say he can.

Yeah I agree with you. There are so many things that I need to use my computer for especially when I have the free time. I don't have as much free time as my husband does so when I need to be on the computer then I really need too. Because often times I have other things I have to attend to when my daughter is awake or I'm trying to plan activities for her.

Yeah I think I love my computer and love doing great things on it.I regularly do many great jobs and have access to all the time. As I can have complete control of myself and what I do I don't share my lovely computer much. Also my family members are not so fascinated by this . So I can be rest assured that my computer is my own!

I'm glad to hear that you love what you do on your computer. That is something that you can be very proud of. Yeah some people just aren't that into computers. I wish my husband was more that way . It would make it so much easier for me. I'm hoping though that he will buy himself one soon.
