I just got another cat although I said that I won't

To make this clear: I already have 4 cats and a 15 years old pekingese. A month ago a kid from my building brought a kitten at home, and the brilliant mother of the kid dumped the kitten on the stairs. The small cat decided to sleep in a flower pot at my door so I took her inside because I have some crazy neighbors who can't stand animals. I searched her a new owner and my next door neighbor said that she wants the cat. I gave the kitten to her and I was happy. A week ago she came to me and told me that she can't keep the cat anymore because she got married and the husband is beating the cat. So I took the cat back and now I am kinda stuck with her. I am still looking for an owner but I won't give her to anyone again. I just feel sorry for my neighbor, because her husband obviously doesn't care about what she likes or what she wants, and a man who can hit a helpless kitten will definitely hit her too.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well that is so sweet and kind of u that u have decided to keep that cat with u and i cannot believe how that guy can treat an animal like that. i think he needs to get a serious lesson for this. But i think u should try to pamper that cat in front of him in such a way that he will repent and realize what he had done with it. Besides i want u to take care of that cat and not to hand over to anyone. What say?

I tried to talk with him because she really wanted to keep the cat. He simply told me he doesn't like cats and that is why he is beating the animal. If you ask me he has some mental issues. As I said I feel sorry for my neighbor. She is not happy. The cat will stay with me if I can't find a good owner.

It is absolutely ridiculous what people will do. Now if I was getting married, and my husband didnt like my animals I would tell him where to go. It shows how selfish, heaartless and ridiculous both of them are. I currently have 3 cats, 1 rabbit, adn 2 guinea pigs, and I am sure it will grow with time. I say keep it if you can, if not then try to find a home. I know so many who whine they want a cat, then they dont want to take on the responsibility.

What a happy family you have in there. My cats would chase the rabbit and guinea pigs all around the house. I will keep the cat if I won't find a proper owner. The initial problem was that my cats were attacking her. Now they seem to get along better. I always said that if I ever marry, the guy will have to accept my animal addicted behavior or else he can go and find someone else.

My cats are kinda old, and having an energetic baby cat again in the family was awkward for them. But they seem to enjoy it step by step.

Mine are afraid of the rabbit, but tey all seem to get along. At first that is normal behaviour, most cats or animals have routine, and very territorial so when someone else get's in the way they have to show who is boss. I am the same way, he has to love my animals, or else he is gone.
