So is working on your laptop, mobile phone or watching TV in the dark bad for your eyes ? or is it just a false saying. Because sometimes i use the laptop in the dark and lots of people warned me and keep advicing me not to do it, but i'm not sure if its true or not.

I think you should follow what people around you have said. Before my vision is 20-20 and I used to read books in a dark room (but I still can see what I'm reading) and then in just months I notice that my sight become blurred my Mom said it because I always read in dark thats why my sight now is blurred. I'm now using eyeglasses for me to see things clearer

yeah it's not good when you try to read things in dark but you still could use bright screen(like laptop or something) in dark you could read easy with it. I think this won't do bad effect to your eyes. because i do since 5 or 6 years.

One should never make the mistake of reading/ using computer in dark.It causes strain to the eye sight .Room should have natural sunlight or moderate lighting system if if are working for long hours else you might land up having severe headache/eye sight problem.

Using my laptop and playing Xbox in the dark has made my eyes extremly sensitive to bright light. Now I have to wear sunglasses whenever I go out during the day.And even the light in the kitchen bothers me sometimes.Too much artificial light can dammage a person's eyes.

I think that it is best that you turn on the lights when you are using your laptop or cellphone or even when watching the television. It will keep your eyes from straining. But I did saw an article online which might help you understand more: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/is-watching-tv-in-the-dark-bad-152622

The little research that I've done on this all comes back saying the same thing - there's no definitive proof that it does harm your eyesight in the long-run. One source came right out and called it an old wives tale. It can cause eye-strain and a number of temporary issues. Blinking frequently and taking breaks would help with this. Maybe try adjusting the contrast and brightness of your computer.

Yeah i don't do it anymore but the strange thing is that in the cinemas there are no lights except the light coming from the movie so i guess it also isn't very good to visit cinemas a lot !

it depends on how long times you are infront of display doing watching tv,working on your laptop. i suggest you to take a 5 to 10 minutes break every hour to rest your eyes.

Some studies had proven that putting vision in a dark place, causes damages in your eyes which results in eye strains. Improper lighting such as low light causes your eyes on focusing on the monitor light which allows the pupils to dilate to allow more light in, this puts muscle strains in the eye causing us to have mild dizziness while staring on the computer in low light.

It is advisable to have light in the room. You don't want to strain your eyes. At least take breaks from looking at your screen every so often.

I think it is right because it damages your eyesight severely. Working on Laptop is specifically bad according to me. I generally don't do lots of my work at night though. I always think some dim light is needed at least for working on laptop.

I used to have perfect vision until I started doing things like being on my computer, playing video games, and watching television in the dark. My eye doctor said it is harmful because the light flashing in the dark slightly damaged my retinas..so I don't think anyone should do it..I have to wear glasses now when I rad because of it..

I have been doing using computer in the dark for about 6 years, but nothing happen to my eye health. I still looking normal. But I don't know what will be the effect if we use laptop, pc or television in the dark for long time. You should consuld to your doctor if your sight is impaired

I am not aware of any true proof that this can cause any type of eye damage. I have been a computer user for all my life and most of the time am using a computer in the dark. I still have 20/20 vision. CRT monitors are the only type of monitors that are bad for your eyes if you are less then 2 feet away from them. LCD LED monitors do not strain your eyes in the same way. I rarely feel eye strain. Everybody can react to computer monitors differently then others. I would say its a false saying because there is different factors involved then light somehow being the cause of eyes going bad. There are just too many health factors involved that can cause eyes to go bad.

I would not recommend it because it is sure to have some adverse effectif you are trying to use a keyboard in very poor light. It may be more practical if you have a touchscreen or even if you are using voice recognition software, but I should imagine that it would be rather difficult otherwise.

Of course it is harmful for our eyesight if we use the computer or mobile phone in the darkness. It will make our eyes tiring easily. So if you have to use the computer or the mobile phone, make sure there is a light in your room.
