Crochet dishcloths - This is some of the crochet dishcloths that I made as Christmas gifts.

I made some dishcloths as gifts this year for Christmas, and this is a pattern that I used/made up for some. I'll add a picture of them. :) I didn't count how many rows I did, but you can just crochet til you get it the length you want. I used a size G/6 - 4.25MM size hook and 100% cotton yarn. Peaches & Creme, I think. I lost the label. I do know that it was cotton yarn though! Row 1: ch 33, or however many you want as long as it's an odd number. 1 sc in each st across. ch 1, turn. (32) Row 2: 1 sc in first st, 1 hdc is next st. Repeat across, you should end with a hdc. ch 1, turn. (32) Row 3: 1 sc in hdc, 1 hdc in sc. Repeat across. ch 1, turn. (32) Just repeat row 3 til you get the length you want. I ended up with a 9" square. I added a row of sc across at the end. I hope this was helpful to some of you. I'm not really that great at writing out patterns, this is my second attempt at it. I usually just write little notes for myself when I'm making something. I have a full notepad of just numbers and scribbles that only I can understand haha.

Just from reading the pattern, yarnprty, it looks like it will have little waves in it. I like to crochet wash cloths. I have been knitting up quite a few bath mitts and would love to find some natural soaps and small candles so that I can make some bath sets. I'm going to write this pattern down so I can use it for the leftovers of cotton yarn that I have.

I think it does have some waves, but I'm not sure because of the yarn I used with it. I think now though, I will make some with a solid color yarn and see how it turns out. And great! I'm glad people are using my pattern. It makes me want to write out some more that I've made up. I'd love to see some of your bath mitts if you have pictures! :) I've tried knitting a few times and I just can't get it! I can't get the right tension or something, it turns out loose in some areas, and too tight in others. I also keep losing stitches lol.

Just like with crocheting...knitting takes lots of practice. I have a short-sleeved cardigan I've been knitting for about a year and a half now. I'll be glad when I get it finished so I can wear it. If I remember to do it, I'll post some pics of the bath mitts and then the sweater when I finish it.

Yeah, I think I just don't have the patience for knitting. I need to work on that though. I did learn crocheting mostly through videos so maybe I need to find some good knitting videos. I have a crochet fishnet top that I've been working on for almost a year now, I keep doing a couple rows then putting it down. I need to finish it by spring so I can wear it with some tank tops! That'd be great. I look forward to seeing them. :)

Thank you! Yeah I have always heard that crochet dishcloths last longer, so I decided to make some for my friends and family. They all love them. :D I think I will be making some for myself as well.

If you have trouble writing down patterns, I can't read them! Still, they are very pretty and I'm sure the people that received them were very happy with them. I made jewelry...

I used to not be able to read patterns, but then I found this really great video series on youtube and now I can! :D If you're interested, this is it: http://youtu.be/zbrZWyMNp2U That's the first video, she has 8 videos in the series. It shows how to make a cute giraffe! And thank you. :) They did like them very much.

Very very nicely done! My grandma used to crochet and I wish I would have learned from her. I am jealous, would love to do it. Maybe I should take a class this Spring at our local craft store. I make fleece blankets.. but no sewing or knitting/crochet involved. :)

Very nice pattern, thank you for sharing. You could also make two of them, stitch them together with a single crochet around the edges to make matching potholders. I know what you mean about leaving notes for yourself, I do the same thing and I think I'm the only one who make sense of my so called shorthand. LOL The homemade dishclothes are wonderful gifts, they are so durable, wash up nicely, and most people really appreciate them.

how long do these wash clothes last and do they reach inside your ears to clean them?
