Writing a poem is not an easy task except for those who are really gifted to do so. I have never written a poem in my life until that time that I was badly hurt and it is where I poured out all my feelings. I can't believe that I was able to do so. after a couple of years, I haven't done writing poem again, until such time that I fell in love that I was able to write again. What motivated or inspired you to write a poem?

Truly said. To write a good poem, the writer must have an already decided theme or feelings within his/her soul. I was not gifted with this talent of writing poems, but my life made me write as that was the only way i could heal my pain..

As long as you were able to write, you are gifted. Not all are capable to write, not all has the ability to express themselves in writing. It could be a poem, a piece of article, a blog, whatever, you are gifted hence keep on doing so and try to write during the happy moments in life.

I wrote my first poem when I was about 12 years old and it was actually as a kind of coincidence. I had to write a poem for a school assignment, I enjoyed that assignment and I continued writing my own poems at home. I wrote some poems and then there was a long break where I didn't write poems. When I was in my 20's I started writing poems again. Some of my poems are based on my personal experiences. They are a kind of symbolic poems where I describe something and actually talk about something else, it is a little hard to explain, but they are usually inspired by my feelings and my experiences.

I think that writing poems always involve feelings and inspirations to be added to the thoughts and those wo can are really gifted for this ability. Keep on writing whether it is just an expression of thoughts or symbolic piece, not everybody has this kind of ability.

After surviving 9/11 I was laid off from work so I had alot of feeling bottled up inside and home alone I was able to start writing poetry. In fact one of my poems were published in a book of poems called Spirits in Motion back in 2002. I also belonged to Poetry.com which to can have your poetry published online. I have written numerous poems which helped me get through the trauma of dealing with loss of friends and co-workers and why did I survive. I have to get back into it because I truly miss writing poetry. I feel it helps one mentally and physically when you express yourself through words on paper.

Wow! Congratulations! That is a great achievement. There are events in life that we are not happy about but then this unhappy events could lead us to discovering new horizons, hidden talents are being discovered. I agree with you, writing for me, though not poetry all the time, but pieces of articles makes me relax my mind. Keep on writing and publishing for you have readers who appreciate your works,

yes, feeling and emotions are too important for creating a poem , I have written poems and have a book but I have stopped writing them as I did not get any mood or feelings which will creat a poem for me.

Yes, you are right, feeling, emotions, thoughts, moods and the talent or if it is still unknown, it will come out naturally. Good for you, you have the book, I should have done the same.

Give it a try, if you were able to do it, you are gifted. We can also write poems during happy moments but I noticed that when we are depressed, it influence us more that other emotions. I was able to write once while I was sitting in a car, but it was out of happiness.

I have written poetry in the past, not lately. I wrote mostly children's poetry and then a stray cat inspired me to write a very good poem about him. The other poetry I've written was done at a time in my life when I was severely depressed. It was rather strange and sad poetry. I haven't written anything in a very long time.

I'm amazed, a stray cat inspired you.....you must have a very creative mind, well, anything could be an inspiration to write in any form of literature. I think we tend to pour out our feelings during the down times of life and our creativity is inspired with it. As per my experience I was also surprised with myself when I was able to write poems during the most depressing time in my life. Sad is, I don't know where I kept them.

The other way is happening my life , been writing poems almost all of my life . I am not a writer but when i am so down writing then is never hard. I love to write , it is my solace , my rescue and my outlet. In there i can be me , no need to cover myself. It is where i can scream and shout without disturbing my neighbor .

Wow! I wish I am talented and gifted as you are Angelpink, not all people can write poems, only those who are gifted to do so. I was able to write poetry but under the influence of a strong emotion, under normal circumstances, i can not compose anything.

I am also not too good at writing poems, and i also don't love to hear or read any type of poems. The people that motivates me to right poems are my friends, we usually take part in competitions to see who has the best... that's what motivates and encourages me to write them....

Any gift or talent can be made excellent with constant practice and the will to do it. Since you have the encouragement and the motivation, you will be good sooner or later and will learn to appreciate your work and other's work as well.

I have a couple of notebooks from years ago. I guess I was inspired by things that were happening at the time. Stuff like cheating boyfriends, doubting my capabilities, and just general teenage anger. I was what I consider to be an awkward teenage girl who only expressed myself in writing. If I were to read what I have now, I think I might've had some issues back then..
