No, it's wasn't puppies...she was spayed at a very young age. I don't think I could handle puppies along with the rest of the critters I have. Bill went up to his daughter's for their Christmas on the 28th. Abby didn't eat yesterday, and she kept wanting outside. At 3 p.m. she about drove me crazy with her pacing and going outside. She settled down a bit but she was even worse when it got to 7 p.m. She was pacing, and getting in my face and kissing me and bugging me. I was busy working on one of Bill's Christmas gifts and wasn't tuned into anything other than what I was working on. Today was even worse. Abby kept going outside, whining, and then coming in again. She paced and paced and then wanted to go out again. At 3 p.m. she went outside and stayed outside for over an hour, looking up the street at Bill's house. If finally dawned on me, she was missing Bill. Normally that wouldn't be unusual except for the fact that she has NEVER showed emotion before. I have found that typical of a rescue dog...especially Abby. She has always been very reserved and laid back. Tonight when Bill came back she gave several very happy barks and I had to open the door for her or she would have gone right through it!!! The whole neighborhood heard how happy she was that Bill came home! She yipped and pranced like a puppy, and she bounced into the house like she was two years old rather than her 12 years of age. Needless to say she surprised both Bill and me!!! We never would have thought that she would be that attached to someone and show that kind of emotion towards an individual. Has one of your animals surprised you like Abby surprised us?

Bill must have become so special to her! Do you know her history from the days before she arrived in your family? Binne also shows signs of distress when one of us is missing. My husband tells me that she looks at every woman they meet. It seems difficult to walk her when I'm missing. And she does the same happy dance with yiping when I return home.

When I was having some foundation work done this summer, my friend was over here just about every day, even if for just a couple hours before he had to go to work (afternoon shift). When it was all done and he didn't come around, Harmony started wondering where he was. (Yes, I speak Cat.)

Hmm, can't help you with that one since i never had a rescue dog. Though I firmly believe we saved Penny and Ciara, after all they were in a litter of 10 and I couldn't see the owners getting homes for all of them, so there was a possibility they could have ended up at the shelter. Since they did not, anyone, whether it is me, my family, or even a friend, both girls run and jump like they have found their "long lost best friend" (And being greeted this way every day can get annoying sometimes..) I am glad Abby has taken to Bill, that is wonderful and now he will have to make sure he visits even more often..
