It happend again

I live in a two story house, and spend the vast majority of the time on the second story. After all, my bedroom is upstairs, and the kitchen is upstairs, and so is the living room, and my home office, with my computer. Now, it seems that people who do not live in two story homes have no concept of just how long it takes someone to get downstairs in order to answer the door, when they come calling. Time and time again, I get to the door to find folks either walking away, or even completely gone, as occurred most recently. It can be quite frustrating. I've lately been thinking of actually putting a sign on my front door that says, "I'm most likely upstairs, and it will take me longer to get to the door than you expect. Be Patient." The only problem with doing that is that it might encourage those I'd rather not deal with to hang around longer. you know, folks trying to sell something, which I will never respond to positively, or "Witness" types trying to sell their church, (same non-positive response to that). So, I'm conflicted about just what to do to solve this problem. I'll throw it out there to the MyLot community. What do you think?

Those who do not wait must be strangers as your family and friends surely know that you live upstairs. They will have the patience to wait. Who are these strangers that visit you and even if they do they must be coming with prior appointment? If so, you could tell them the story at that time ! As far as we are concerned no one visits without informing us.

Like you, allknowing, I most definitely prefer to know in advance when someone is coming to visit. But of course, I don't know who this most recent visitor who gave up too soon was. I suspect, but am not sure, it may have been one of my new neighbors. Two different homes in my cove have folks who very recently moved in.

No big issue really. You could call them up and ask them. Anyway you must be having plans to befriend them. Nice opportunity to get to know them too. And if they are not the ones then why bother!

If they need you, they would wait don't you think? Otherwise it means it's not that important.

I'm sure you are right. It just bugs me not knowing.

Do you have a doorbell? Maybe you can come down after the bell is rung three times? Is that enough time?

That could be frustrating sometimes. You can try to install elevator, escalator or slide to take down faster, the slide could really be funny. Or you can install intercom outside, it's more efficient like that. My first suggestions are just crazy ideas, so don't bother..happy new year though

The slide idea gave me a chuckle. ;) But, hey, that intercom idea is a really good one, if only I could afford it.
