I don't find a dog's fear funny. You shouldn't laugh at their fear either. Imagine what makes you laugh may be their worst nightmare! You can't avoid your dog by being like that. There are rare cases when dogs are not afraid of fireworks sound. I suggest you to prepare a nice, safe place for him to hide when you expect a fireworks display like the one of the New Year's Eve. A quiet room would be a good place for him to hide until the fireworks sound is over.

me and our dog were at the bathroom at the whole fireworks display, i'd make sure that i gave him water so that he would not lose his conscious, if you will notice their body was trembling and their tongue turned purple because of nervous, it can't cause heart attack if they don't feel that they were secured.... they can't also pee when they afraid.. so that's really make things terrible for our dog.... try to pat him and sing or made a conversation with him so that he will only focus on your voice not on the noise..

Petting your dog when he shows signs of fear is wrong. Petting is a strong reward for dogs. He will understand that showing fear is what you want from him and this will worsen the situation. If you can't distract him when he is afraid of fireworks, assure him a comfortable place to hide and feel safe during the fireworks display.

petting dogs will always be wrong, what i've said is based on a situation.. it's like that your dogs needs security and a little touching is a big help.. like us people when we struggle, one pat on our shoulder we know that one of our family or friends were there to help us...

Our dog is also scared of the fireworks. In the street where we live there are a lot of fireworks and they start several days before New Year's Eve. Fortunately our dog seemed to get sort of used to the fireworks after a while. When they started he was very scared, but after a while he seemed react less strongly. At midnight there were a lot of fireworks and a lot of very loud noise and he got scared again and he hid upstairs. Last year we got some pills from the vet, and they were supposed to help him relax, but they didn't really make a difference. It is possible that pills could help your dog and you could talk to your vet about it.

dog's ears are more sensitive than human, thus they are more affected by the sound of fireworks. at home, during new years eve, we put our dogs in bathroom so they wont hear the fireworks loudly.

Most dogs are scared of fireworks and noise. Strangely, although, most of our dogs in the past have shown this tendency our last one behaves quite normally.

I don't think you can do anything to avoid your dog by being like that. They say that a vet could give him some pills to relax, but from my experience, they won't help. My friend gave our dog such pills a few years ago but they didn't show any results. The dog was still terrified by the noises and she hid in the bath tube.

We have to do our best to help them by securing their place so they won't hear the noise so much. Sometimes, man behaves worst than animals in this case.
