I find it weird to be asked "Did you wake up last night for the New Year?" I find it weird because at home we don't usually sleep until after all the noise welcoming the New Year is gone.
Normally, people would sleep early at around 7 pm or 8 to be able to wake up maybe an hour or 30 minutes before countdown. But this is not what we follow in the house because the whole time we'd be watching TV and doing the internet. Another reason for the excitement to wake up in the middle of New Year's eve is the eating of the "Noche Buena," eating of midnight banquet.
So when people asked if we woke up at midnight of New Year, I'd answer,"We're awake the whole time, no need to wake up."
How about you? Do you sleep early so you can wake up at midnight to welcome the New Year?

Waking up for it is a little weird, some would struggle to get back to sleep after and what's the point? I always stay up and then go to bed in the early hours.

Hi there.
15 minutes after 12. I did managed to sleep. And most probably because I am sick and just wanted to get some rest. And I also need to wake up early because of work. I only had 4 hours of sleep but glad I made it through my working shift without feeling sleepy because of the lack of it.
Anyways, I believe there are really others who did struggle going back to sleep.
Have a great day!

Hi Cutie!
Since, I was sick. My body just wanted to lay down in bed as soon as the clock strikes at 10:30pm. We are used to stay awake until after midnight but me being sick hindered that... I just asked my sister to wake me up before midnight. And she did woke me up 5 minutes before 12. I am glad that I did stand up and manage to go outside our house to watch the amazing fireworks and greet my family. We used to make noises through coins and beep our car and our motorcycle.
I just hate being sick in this first day of the year...I just hope it isn't the case the entire year.
Have a great time!

I just heard it on the news just minutes ago. It's really heart breaking most especially for the part of the family. It's really tragic.
People should definitely be responsible.

I am a night owl and I am always up at midnight, 365 days of the year, so for me staying up to see the New Year in will be no hardship. I tend to sleep more in the morning, as I prefer to stay up till 1am in the morning. Have a wonderful New Year my friend and lets hope 2013 will be a happy and successful one.

Well, I was still awake last night when people were busy doing the countdown. Yet, I'm just staying in my hostel without going anywhere. I guess the town I am at now is no so happening so no one really do much of a new year countdown here. But I can feel it as I am online in an online social game all the time and people were doing the countdown inside the game. Anyway, I think almost everybody would be awake for new year countdown somehow.

That is why. But some people are still so out there during the countdown, they could hardly wait. They had been blowing explosives 30 minutes before and went crazy at 12 midnight. My mind was on my pet dogs who did not understand this crazy practice of ours.

Actually I do not go to sleep before 1 am today because I watched the TV show the whole night, and as we all know when the new years is coming it will be very noise so why not we just stay up in midnight and have the fun rather than be woke up by the noise.

The thing is my son slept at 11pm and I was having a hard time to wake him up at 12 midnight but still I did. However, he was out of the mood and my three year old son was surprised to hear noises and to see fireworks. He slept again. However, what I did before he slept, we prayed and thanked God for the whole year through. This completed my new year's eve. :-)
Happy New Year!

hi cutie18f.
i think you find this question weird is because of your expectation that everyone celebrates the new year the same way as you! lol! anyway, just messing with you.
back in the day, i would sleep early and then wake up at ten in the evening to welcome the new year. there were also times, that i won't sleep at all and just stay up until the new year comes. for this year though, i was planning to sleep through the new year's eve celebration as i have work early in the morning the next day. anyway, i slept early, at around six int he evening. i woke up at 11:30pm but decided not to get up. a couple of minutes before 12 midnight, my wife woke me up so i can welcome the new year. anyway, i woke up, spent the new year with my daughter, who was also going to sleep through the new year celebrations, and heard mass that was being televised at one of the local channels. after hearing mass, i had a small snack and then slept again.
that wasn't so weird, right?
cheers and happy mylotting!!!
