I went to the store to get some groceries. The local market had oranges on sale for $2.99. Well, they rang up for $4.99 and then when I entered my phone number, finish and pay, I only got $1.00 off instead of $2.00. I took the oranges and my receipt to the courtesy desk. She had to go check the prices of the oranges and sure enough they were on sale for $2.99. She was going to give me $1.00 back, and I said "No, I need more than that I was overcharged a $1.00!" She said "that's right!" I got $6.00 back! Woo Hoo. I got my oranges and my bread for free today.

Yeah, complaining does work and i will complain when I know I am getting cheated! Complaining in the corporate world is a whole nother story though.

I can't help but feel offended by this ladies. Now I am glad that Arieles went to the front desk and mentioned it, I know I would as well. The line that irrtiates me is "maybe next they will get the prices marked right." There are a lot of tags in a store, there are a lot of things to be marked down in a week. Sometimes a person misses marking down some things. It is human nature. The store seemed to handle it correctly as well they should. Provided they didn't get irritated.. well I see no reason to say "maybe they'll get it right next time." Perhaps I am reading what you say wrong.

If it happens to often someone could lose their job. I wonder how many people didn't pay any attention to the sign and were cheated out of $1.00. For me and my family, an extra dollar means a lot right now. It's not meant to offend anyone, it's just a matter of fact. Yes, the store did handle the situation correctly; however, how many people walked away today and other days paying that extra dollar. This happened to me last week too, and I let it go. Yes, people make mistakes, we all make mistakes. Thanks for commenting cowgirl.

I stopped going to one of our local grocery stores after several incidents like that. They've had signage wrong at one like they'd say pizza 4 for $10 but it was the bigger size in the case with the sign. They did that with some pie I bought too. I was just annoyed to have to go to service desk to fix their errors so often. Though yay when they have the policy of being overcharged and it's under whatever amt and they give it to you free.

Well I am glad that they handled it nicely for you. Sometimes the different departments miss an item or two. As a cashier I try to make sure everything rings up right for people and explain to them how it works. I have customers come in all the time and say "Hey this isn't coming off." and I say "Anything buy one get one or Online Specials (there's a term for it but then that'd be giving away where I work lol) will come off when I hit the total button. Then if it still doesn't come off I call the manager over there then to fix it so there's no need to go to the customer service desk. Of course sometimes I don't catch it and they have to go to customer service.

I love the BOGO deals (buy one get one) They sure do save a lot of money. To save time, I usually go through the self check out. Yes, sure it was great that they handled my complaint nicely, some cashiers are not so friendly, but Marge is. This was the second time it has happened to me, so I was for sure going to say something about it. The first time I didn't catch it until I got home, and I usually have an idea of what I am spending before I even get to the check out lane but there are times when I don't. This time I was paying attention.

In that case the customer is always right. I guess they might be better to notice the error next time.

I normally go through the self check out, so it was in the computer at the wrong price.

Well, you were honest in going back to get it straighten out. Where I live, we can buy 'seconds' oranges for a very cheap price. These oranges don't look great on the outside but are just as fresh and delicious on the inside. I don't care what oranges look like - scratches on the skin, etc. - but as long as they are fresh and tasty. Oranges are my favorite fruit and I have to have at least one orange a day.

My son loves oranges, and I sure did crave them when I was pregnant with my first son so many years ago. I love the smell of oranges.

Maybe your oranges were good if you know what I mean. Alright, that was a bit dirty but I couldn't miss it. Well, it's surprising because businesses always look after every cent.
