my grandma is very old and she has to have someone stay with her at all times and last night and tonight that woul be me. i love my grandma very much and i will do anything to help her out just like she does me. i lived with her all 18 years of my life.
at 5:00 this morning she was calling for help because she was sliding out of her chair and couldnt see to scoot back in it. it was one of those lift chairs. well finally the chair sort of flipped forward a little and she was on the floor. i am not happy about ehr falling but i am happy that since it did happen it happened this way. it wasnt a very far disatance for her to fall so she wasnt even hurt a little bit. my grandma is bigger so i had to call 911 to come and help her get back up and back into her chair. once she did that she had spots in front of her eyes she checked her blood sugar and it had dropped to 38 and for those of you that know nothing about that that is WAY to low. well we got that under control and the paramedics left. we think this is why she fell. her blood sugars have been off the wall lately and this time she had no symtoms until she was back in her chair after falling so now we know we have to keep a close eye on them but i am very thankful that she is ok and unharmed

I know about those lift chairs and they are every slippery unless you get one of the high end ones. We had to get one for my husband when he got ALS and we had to make sure that it did not get too high when he wanted to get up or it would tip over. I wish there were some mechanism in these chairs that would stop when it got too high and it would only stop when they stood up.
I am glad your grandmother is all right. I am wondering whether you should consider home care, especially someone who has nursing experience. About the spots in front of her eyes, maybe she has cataracts. Maybe have the doctor check for that as well.

yes they are very slippery. I don't like it that much other than it does help her get up if she didn't have it I'm not sure she'd be able to get out of the chair. maybe with time they will have a mechanism like that but I would rather them have that sooner than later.
she does already use home care but i still have to stay sometimes because it's expensive anyways but on the weekend it is more expensive. she gets the spots when he blood sugar gets low but I will mention it thank you.

Thank you I was very happy to know she was ok and no harm done it was very scary at the time. my grandma raised me and I am very glad that I am able go do fir her as she did for me growing up. she is on some medicine they can't take her off yet which is the cause of her sugar level issue we just have to keep a way closer eye on it.

yes when my grandma gets hurt it takes a long time for her to heal. she even bruises very very easily so we have to be very very careful with her. I was glad she didn't even get bruised up.

Thank you. my grandma either has me, my aunt (her daughter) or an aide stay with her so she is never alone. if she is it is no longer than an hour when I am there and she needs groceries. if I do need to leave I get her all taken care of and she doesn't move until I get back.

Last year, our elderly neighbour who is 94 had a fall in her kitchen, now she lives alone and only one of her two daughters bothers to see her but that's once in a blue moon, fortunately she was able to call on us, and we immediately went round to see her, she had badly grazed her back, but the shock was worse for her, we stayed with her and made her comfortable, gave her sweet tea and chocolate, she refused the doctors help, next day she was stiff after her fall but she managed to get around. She is a worry, I was just glad we were around for her. Old people get so frail, their minds are as bright as a button but their bodies are not on par, I can understand why she gets frustrated. Best thing is to keep a close eye on them, I go round for a coffee once a week and my mum goes in to see her every other day. I am glad too your grandma is ok.

i often times get that way to and have to find something to eat or something to make me feel better. i havent been checked but just like you i have a t of family that is diabetic. i really hope that you do not end up getting it.
she is on a medication they cant take her off of right now which is the cause of the blood sugar being so out of sync. i hope they can fix it for her becaue she does crash a lot and we he to rush to gt it bac up quick.
well my dad use to help but him with cancer now he isnt able to do all that much. my aunt comes down when she isnt out of town for work on the weekedns she lives about an hour away but she does what she can. the rest of my family yea no luck there. she does have aides that stay there all day every day. i am just the person she calls when she needs something or needs someone to stay. she even has me go to the grocery storefor her. yes at times it becomes to much but i will never turn her away becuse as a child she could have turned me away ut she didnt she took me in and raised me and now she needs my help. i love hr and i am also glad she atleast has me to help when i can.
i try to take care of myself to but i will not lie sometimes i get pushed to the side but i am getting better at it lol.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you to thank you
thank you for the prayers they are always welcome and very much needed :)
