I think pencils, crayons, papers and school bags are the best.

Usually they don't understand English. Maybe if she can give them English alphabet books or flash cards about action words, animals, fruits, colors, parts of the body that will be a great. Help too

I think everybody is always suggesting the same. I would suggest to buy it over there. This way she will always support the people over there having a shop. I don't think it will be more expensive as at home. Also this is a nice way to make contacts.

What about something that is related to school, like pencils with a South African flag on them? That might be inexpensive and easy to transport - or perhaps an eraser would be a good gift. It is difficult to know what to take to another school!

This will be nice things she will be doing and surely meeting the children she will remember her tour. Any way if she is going to meet small children ask her to take drawing book, color pencil/crayon, tiff-in Box,water bottle and school bag - if everything fits in her budget.
If possible asked her to conduct sort of drawing competition and collect those drawing as her memory about her visit to that School when she was on tour to bali.
