The pain of a broken promise

... A promise is a commitment by someone to do or not do something. As a noun, promise means a declaration assuring that one will or will not do something. As a verb it means to commit oneself by a promise to do or give. But as for the heart, a promise is a promise and it is a word to keep. A word that gives assurance to the heart to trust and make hold of it. Holding promises from someone most important to you means putting your heart at risk in pain because as quoted “a promises is usually are made to be broken” but what if the heart still choose to believe in someone else’s promises – for the simple reason that the heart do value the words and trusted the person who made such promise. So, does it mean that it’s okay to break a promise for in the first place, the heart chooses to believe the same?
How does the heart then prepare to abide all the pain brought by a broken promise?

In my opinion, promise is not made to be broken. We make promise in the first place as expecting ourselves to give full commitment into carrying out such promise. No matter what the promise is, we should not make promise if we are not sure whether we will be able to fulfill it. As for the saying that "promise is made to be broken", it is just the lame excuse given by irresponsible people who made promise recklessly and doesn't want to be held responsible for the promise they made in the first place. I would call these people coward. If promise are meant to be broken, then why bother making a promise at all? We need to make responsible promises and fulfill what we said.

Hi Jackiekathyrain, a "promise" is supposed to be a form of expression of the true feelings from within. Its like mean what you say and say what you mean scenario. A vow, a pledge, a guarantee but indeed no warranty for now a days "to promise" to someone has been made in order to -1.) they promise to end a conversation from an annoying partner means not sincere, 2.) they promises just to compromise, 3.) they promise in order to get something, and 4.) they promise because they want to keep you and assure you. To promise means to believe and to believe means to hope and to hope is to live and to live is to love without expecting same quality and quantity in return.
How does we prepare our heart in order to overcome broken promises? Well, all we have to do is remember the true meaning of the word PROMISE which means "Please Reserved Open Mindedness In Surprising Events".

From my point of view, broken promise is the violation of human emotions, that cant be forgetable.
