i've read some street vendors have raised the price of their cigarettes due to sin tax bill taking effect today even if the cigarettes carrying the increased taxes haven't mad it to the market yet. in the sari-sari stores, there has been no increase yet maybe because they are selling the old stock. some stores have claimed some of their customers bought what they have to hoard and avoid the impending increase in price.

actually, i'm not directly affected by this law because i don't smoke and drink. i guess it really lessens people dying of cancer brought about by excessive smoking and drinking. the government said the income generated by this bill will be used for health care program.

that's good if they use the money properly like modernizing our armed forces or for health, but if politicians would just pocket it then they sin more than the vice sin tax was intended for

Actually, this one tax bill is long overdue. This should have been done w ay back before, so smokers will really think twice if they still have to smoke or not.
It's a good thing that this has been finally approved as bill. I really hope that the health care program will be already improved.

oh no. Its not today. The bill has not been passed yet. So that meant we should still be waiting a couple of months dependng on our congress and senates on how fast they can have this executed. I am not directly affected by this as well as i do not smoke. I drink woth friends ocassionally but that means we might just leave out this as part of what we might want to bring during celebrations...

The Government is doing the right thing. After RH bill was signed, now its Sin Tax Bill. For smokers and drinkers, they should stop this. Health is really important to us. This is good for the Filipino people.

Yes, I already printed the news about it and it is effective today. I am looking for the full text of the law but I cannot find as of this time.
I was planning to write an article about it and yes until now I was not able to start, he he. I am not a smoker so I am not also affected if the stores would implement the increase.

Wow. So I guess smokers and drinkers should already think on whether they will continue or not with their vices.
