I know a lot of people dont believe in living in the past but I believe that reexamining the part of you that has shaped you into what you are today is very important. After all how can you accurately get to where you are going without knowing where you've already been.
I believe that life should be about improvement. Not through tyranny but through self revelation and assessment. My goals for this year are pretty lofty. I am looking at switching jobs into a field I REALLY want to be into and starting to go to school. At least part time.....

My past was pretty uneventful and I feel like I haven't gotten much done in my life besides making 3 beautiful children. The past year was a rocky one for me. I'm going through a divorce which still isn't final. I met a great guy though who loves me and my kids and so far things are great. I hope that the coming year will bring about some changes and growth so I can feel like I am worth more then I am now.

I think you are probably much more than you think you are. Thats why past reflection is vital to our well being.

Your OP reminds me of a quote from Socrates...The unexamined life is not worth living...
I believe that to be true but only if not taken to the extreme...often people forget to appreciate today as they look back or forward...It all comes down to a lesson my father gave me.. extremes are to be avoided..moderation in all things should be the guide..
Congrats on deciding to go for what you love..I always say it won't feel so much like work if you love your job..and you will do better and feel better fulfilling your 'destiny'
God Bless and wishing you tremendous success...

Yes, exactly! That is what I was trying to say. I agree that extremes are bad. I am talking about the occasional examination. I take a couple of times a year to evaluate where I have been, where I want to be, how I can be more efficient in getting what I want, determining what I want, and what I do not want to have in my life.

I believe in what you have said. We should always learn to look back so we would know how to make a straighter path in the future.
My goal is to make myself more productive this year, more driven and more persevering.

My past was bad because of a very abusive marriage. The good thing is he at least gave me a great son out of it. But it was bad.. Im good now, and only look forward to a wonderful life.

Bad happens to everyone Maria. I was abused as a child and just got out of an abusive relationship last year. Ive moved on, I was homeless and jobless and just doing very poorly. Now I am in a beautiful mountain town with a well paying job and a beautiful house.
If I had not suffered all I had in life, I wouldn't have been forced to look at my life and make the sacrifices and changes required to get to where I am. I also look back to remind of me of the type of relationship I will never settle for again. I deserve better. And so do you!
I am not talking about living in the past every moment of the day, but examining how you have grown and changed and thinking about the goals you would like to achieve, it all goes hand in hand.

I agree with you , we dont have to lived in the pass but its a part of us and its what make us who we are now . I believe in living for the moment but still plan for tomorrow , so as we live we learn and it hep shape our future .
I have 3 big goals for this year and I will be working hard to reach them . I have accomplish some of it last year and this year will be the finish touch for one and a new beginning for another goal I just made last night.
I hope you get that better job this year .
