Traveling to a cold country and finding some warmth

I watched a dating program in which a couple get to go on a short vacation together. One couple got to visit Iceland at Christmas time. They bathed in the geothermal blue lagoon. The steam was coming out the water and they didn't feel at all cold due to that. They found some special mud for massaging into their faces. It seemed like a perfect short vacation to me.
I always imagined it would be great to visit Iceland in the summer time. I know it can have the northern lights in the year. I am not sure exactly when. I rather miss snow since I moved from a village in Kent. Now I live in a more mild location within a few miles of the coast. I dream about visiting somewhere snowy.
Do you like seeing snowy landscapes?
If you won a free trip to Iceland which time of the year would you wish to go there?
Have you ever bathed in warm water when the air temperature has been cold?

For northern lights, you can go to Iceland, but you're better off going to Norway (Tromsø) or northern Finland. Usually from December til February I think. We've had some every year in Trondheim too, but they're not very strong and it is difficult to see them when you're in a city. Same places are good for snow, better than Iceland :-)
However, Iceland is great for weird colours and strange landscapes and geothermal baths. I've been there in the summer, we went to the Blue Lagoon on a warm day. That's really a waste of time as it is far too warm in the water when the air is warm too.
For a free trip I'd chose the summer even though I haven't been there in the winter yet. Or maybe late summer/autumn, but the great thing with summer is that it is light all the time so you can stay up whenever you want to. Just as here *glares out at the dark* And in the winter there's only about 4 hourse of daylight ...

We are going to Iceland in February. We are going during the winter season because it is way cheaper to travel and do the tours at that time. I can't wait to relax in the hot springs. My parents have a hot tub outside and my daughter uses it in the winter time. She will sit in it get out and run in the snow and lie down in it then get back in the hot tub. I think iceland will be a great experience. Plus it doesn't actually get that cold there. The average temp in the winter hovers around 0 degrees Celsius. Where my daughter sits in the hot tub it gets abou minus 30 degrees Celsius.

I think if we can have a trip to a cold country, we will find that people living in that country lead a warm life.
Usually people in cold country to not like to speak with other people for a long time, for their environment limits their talking, but they are always ready to help people. In cold winter, the indoor temperature are quite high, you can live well with a little clothes, sometimes there are surprice in cold country for you, like warm spring and delicious food.

I like to see snowy landscapes for real because I've only seen it on images or in tv. We don't have snow here and so if I won a free trip to Iceland, I would go there. Its not only to see a snow, I want also to feel it in my hand-- real snow.

I very much doubt that you could mention a single country that I would not be happy to visit. I have always enjoyed visiting somewhere new and do not consider even the remotest destination to be any less interesting than the popular tourist destinations.
I have been to several popular tourist destinations, such as Italy, Morocco, France and Spain. I have also visited a few less popular destinations such as Poland and Central Siberia, which I enjoyed just as much.
Keeping warm is not really a consideration for me and I was quite happy in the sub zero climate of Siberia. The time of years is yet another factor that would not matter to me, visiting somewhere at any time would be a welcome venture.

The winter months are usually cold and snowy so when I travel I love to visit a place with a hot climate. I think that a snowy landscape can be very beautiful and sometimes I take pictures of the snow in my own country. My friends from tropical countries love to see those pictures because they have never experienced snow in person. If I got a free trip to Iceland I would travel during the summer. I think that the summer would be a pleasant time to visit Iceland. I might visit Iceland and the Faroe islands next year, but I am not completely sure yet. Right now I don't have any money to spend on travelling so I will only go to Iceland if I manage to save up the money for the trip.

Although I have travelled to so many cold countries I never encountered snow despite being there at a time when it normally snows. But I have had an experience of getting under a warm and thick blanket and a mattress almost 8" thick in Switzerland where we were put up in a hotel overlooking the Alps. Any time I want to get sleep now I imagine I am there under that blanket and believe it or not sleep visits me sooner than expected.
I can only just about tolerate winter and so if I get to go to Iceland it would be at a time when I would have just a few snow flakes falling on my face!

Hello Maximax
I have never visited place where I can see that kind of ice around. And I really wish to visit place like that. Well, I just want to visit the place where I can see ice all around the place, so time doesn't matter to me. And yes bathing in warm water at such place and cold is whole real experience.. I can already sense it. So never visited so far but wish to visit it at least once.

Now That DOES sound like my ideal of fun and a place to go, I think you know my answer here and if I did win a free trip to Iceland I would go in the height of the Summer to escape the heat. The only time I want to see snow is on Christmas Day, but sadly we didn't get a White Christmas, usually the snow comes with force in January. It is lovely to see the snow but inside looking out, rather than being out in it, as you know snow can be hazardous and it tends to grind our transport system to a halt!
