Yep you read that exactly right...VODKA....TAMPONS...WTF??? I just heard the term on Ricki Lake a couple of minutes ago...and while I wasn't interested myself I just had to know what it is...found this article on Google about it:
***NOT A REF LINK***
http://www.khou.com/news/health/Teens-reportedly-using-vodka-soaked-tampons-gummy-bears-138546974.html
Basically, kids are soaking tampons in Vodka, and inserting them vaginally, or even rectally. Kids think they are getting away with something because no one can tell what their behavior is from, and they also do it because they get the buzz quicker. Of course they aren't thinking of the possible alcohol poisoning they could get.
Its just getting harder and harder just to be a kid nowadays. I mean, how do you even talk to your kids about something like this? I think I have my bases covered though, told my kids nothing goes in the "pocketbook" and it always stays closed lol. That won't be the only discussion I have with them, but at 11 and 8, I think that's a pretty good start.
But seriously...how bad can it really get after this????

Wow really Shep? That's what you got from this article? Far be it for me to be an alarmist but you know how silly you are right? lol....Yea I do wonder a bit for the guys, especially at that age, to be trying such things lol

You've checked out the comments on the article about it being a hoax and the female researcher who actually experimented with the idea? ouch..
If they're dumb enough to try it,they deserve the ridicule..

Unbelievable! I swear things going on now are just crazy. I would NEVER have even thought of doing something like this. Where in the world do kids get these ideas??
I am so shocked and every time I hear of something like this going on I am more and more glad my kids are Home Schooled, since that is where most kids get the idea from, at school from other kids... It is starting to get seriously NUTTY!

I agree about it getting nutty, but I also...well I don't want to say that I'm against home schooling; however I've always wondered how a child that is homeschooled learns to handle the outside world beyond just family. Once they graduate, no matter how they come through it, they still have to deal with other people outside of their family and even circle of friends. These crazy knuckle-heads (most of them anyway) will still be around as well. I dunno I feel there's just something to be said for learning to deal with these type of people without coming to harm themselves.
Better to get lunch money taken from you now (and learn to keep it from happening), than to get scammed out of rent money later.

Home schooled children have other kids to socialize with in home school groups and extra curricular activities. Their not always just with family, that's a popular misconception though...
Public school does not teach about the real world, you only learn subjects that most of the time we never use again in our lives! When home schooling YOU as the teacher decide what the child learns and what they don't. I choose to teach my kids about real life situations, struggles, etc...

Wow!! This is unreal, and you would wonder how many do it and think they can get away with it, as it will end up effecting you in so many ways. You would think people would hear of this, and start testing more when something seems awry. Nut in reality it almost makes you think what type of sick trick will they think of coming up with next?

Unbelievable! I have never heard of this. What my thing is who the heck thinks of this in the first place. The kids of today are so lost and alone they are trying every which way to stop the pain. They come up with the weirdest ways to get high. I'm so happy my girls are in their thirty's and I'm not raising a child in this time period. I feel so bad for the moms now having to deal with such craziness.

Lawd and I'm one of them. But I'm also a firm believer in the bigger role you play in their lives, the less they are influenced by what's outside. I stay interested in my kids lives, what's going on in school as well as how they are doing. I want them to be exposed to all walks of life, but know how to navigate and not be swept up by it as well.

Wow, this is really going nuts.
I haven't heard of this happening here in our place and I hope this information won't reached the youngsters here either.
Duh...is this for real..or am I dreaming?
Thanks for this information -really absurd and shocking.

Right! This isn't something that has come up in my local area either...just happened to see a topic done on Ricki Lake (Did you know they brought that back?), so its gaining some national attention in the States....This just goes to show that you have to have continual discussions with your child(ren) about everything. You may not conceive of something like this specifically, but if you have an open line of communication with your child, having to worry about something like this is not as big a threat; not impossible, but not within character if you know your child(ren)

WHAT THE ***?!
I graduated high school almost 8 years ago in 2005 and never once did I think of soaking a tampon in vodka to get a quick buzz.
What on earth is wrong with kids these days? I am starting to seriously wonder if it is the coddling that people are forced to do now. Children get no real punishment. They aren't being talked to by their parents. In many instances for younger children they can no longer win or lose games.
And these parents aren't wondering when their teen or child needs to suddenly buy tampons again? *sighs*

I know I would be the first one hollering anytime I have to replace something in the household that I shouldn't have to as soon!!! I am with you though even though kids follow other kids who in the flip started this mess??? This had to be originally learned from somewhere, and the thought of where just makes me shudder!
