I am getting the last of my Christmas decorations down today..and the house just looks so bare! I am trying to redo some of the things I have out to make it look just a bit different without spending alot of money buying more things that I do not need! But I already miss the little lights that are scattered around the house, miss the glittery things that pick up the sunshine....so it looks a bit dull around here! Do you miss the decorations after you take them down or are you so glad the holidays are over that you are ready to put them away?

I'm the opposite from you. Without the big holiday parties I've downsized my decorating to practically nothing. For me it is now just clutter. That's why I started for the first time in my life making and selling what are basically decorations for every holiday I can think of and more. My husband used to love putting up holiday lights on every window, on the roof, around the doors you name it. He made these big spools just for outdoor holiday lighting. Anything involving a latter and a Karhart he would volunteer to do. All of that is gone now I've told him he must leave his feet on the ground. He's not getting any younger and gravity always wins. So I bought these two cute strings of little Christmas trees for a total of 12 little trees. They get plugged in and are meant to line sidewalks and driveways. I thought it would be cute to string them out accross the front lawn to look like a little tree farm. I can even set them out. I do love making and looking at my gel candles but I like selling them better! I can't stop putting out some inside decorations because we now have a grandson. Then there's the fireplace where the birch wood stays in the basket all year long anyway. Around here less is more.

Even though I've only sold 4 I think it's great! I don't expect it to be fully operational for about a year, simply because it's a live and learn activity. I'm creating now as every holiday comes up. I have current goals for two new Valentine, two new St Patrick's day, two Mother's day and two fishing opener candles. Meanwhile I'm optimizing my web site for the search engines, blogging and having a blast. I haven't been to any craft shows knowing I'll be at four or more of them this year. It takes so long to develop them I've got to think in the long term. I'm short 40% from being fully optimized for the search engines. I've had a lot of visitors and a lot of just page views but I've got to get more original candles with pictures of them in there. Going on my 9th month and still going strong. I can't wait to prove that gift store owner in town WRONG!!!!!
Thanks for asking!

We don't put up a tree or have decorations which is fine with me. We go to our daughter's and enjoy their tree and lights. We were over there the other day and her house looked odd. Then I realized they took down the Christmas tree, lights and blow ups in the front yard. They got a new puppy right at the time the tree went up and it about drove them nuts that she was chewing on the wires and trying to get the tensil off the tree. Guess that's why it was taken down early. By early I mean right before New Years Eve. All in all, I am glad the holidays are over and behind us for another year.

Well, we do not really do that much in the way of decorating due to time. Especially this last yr. But I do admit what little we do do, when you remove everything it is like WOW!! Now we need something to put there. I know people who decorate for every holiday, and we have bought a Red tablecloth, etc. but that is about it for Valentines.

Since we don't celebrate Christmas, we don't have decorations that we need to be taking down. I could have decorated for Hanukkah, but we were still getting settled in at that time, so we didn't.
Maybe, next Hanukkah, I will decorate a little. It is a fairly minor holiday, but it is the one that most lends itself to decorating the home.

I take them down the end of January, as takes to long getting them up, so everyone is going to see them a little longer. Its hard decorating 3 trees and I put items on all the living room tables. It takes a couple weeks to go up and that is how it comes down also.

I just finished mine today too and yes, the house looks all empty. I haven't put back all the other stuff yet so the bookshelves are bare with only a couple of things on them. It does look sort of boring now, and that's not quite how I thought this would go, lol!
I did put 3 items into my kitchen corner cupboard (which is for special things) because I didn't have the heart to wrap them up and store them. They are 3 little ceramic red girl elves from the 50s and are just adorable, about 3" high. I bought two of them this year and the other one a few years ago. What a sap I am, hahaha!
I had fun for the holidays so I can't say I'm all that happy, but there is next year!

Love the word - deChristmasfing! Yes, we did the same and fi ished today. I am already looking at the furniture with an eye to rearranging the sitting room area as I removed a piece of furniture into the din ing room so it does look empty. The children are at the beach so will wait until my daughter comes home then get her opinion. I need one sofa recovered and a new area rug as I had two sofas recovered before Christmas but could not afford to have the third sofa recovered. The blue area rug does ot match at all and sticks pout like a sore thumb now that the other sofas have been recovered. I suppose we will get used to it all again but I miss the Christmassy thingies that come out year after year as they are like old friends who visit infrequently but are so loved when they do visit.

I will take mine down on Sunday. It has been a busy week and this weekend I will have more time to get things done and organized without having to rush. I am sure it will feel lonely once I take everything down.

I don't miss the christmas decorations, mostly I miss the holidays and the vacation. :)
