Chicken Was Bad

I didn't cook this the store did but the roast chicken mom got last from the store was horrid. The chicken looked like a kind of almost yellowish color and very dry with a wierd taste. The "glop" it was sitting in the container looked like alot of hardened melted butter. I have never seen her buy such a bad looking and tasting roast chicken. I ate one of the legs yesterday and today I could only eat half the sandwhich I made with some breast meat and thought I would get sick. I didn't feel that great today either, not sure if it was from the chicken or not but man I'm not eating that chicken again. I wonder where they got that one from, was it roadkill?! Sheesh. It was one of the worst I have seen other than the time it looked raw and too pink.

It could be who cooked it in store. I never thought of it before, but when I worked in a coffee shop people would request I make items for them because it tasted better. But I looked at how others prepared it, and how I did big difference. I would bring it back to the store, or complain.

We never did bring it back or call, etc. I guess next time we just won't buy that there for awhile. It makes me sick to think they might have cooked it that way cause I don't have a clue what could have been added to cause it. I hope they get others returning theirs and complaining at least so maybe that person who made it that way is fired.

If noone returns and complains they wont know what happened, or even if something happened. I use to work in a coffee shop for a number of years. We all cooked different, and sometimes seeing as they gave us less and less time to finish things we took short cuts.

I hope you took it back to the manager and showed him. If not then he would not know to watch quality control. I have a local grocerie that sells chicken wings in various flavors, and fried catfish. We can get dinners made up for 5.99. Usually the chicken and fish are made up excellent but the sides unless you get potato salad and cole slaw all look over cooked. that is unless you get there to get your dinner when they first made all the vegetables. I get to where I purchase the chicken and fish and bring it home and add a salad and vegetable of my own.

I know we should have but didn't. I think they should have more of a quality control there, ever since then we haven't bought them from that store. That price of $5.99 sounds pretty decent. I have never tried catfish, how was it? I don't care much for the sides, I prefer to make my own when able. I like to add things they don't add, etc. Freshly made things are always better tasting. Even with my baked goods, I think they are alittle 'worn out' by the second day.

That doesn't sound right at all. I would of called the store about it. As surely you can't be the only person who may of gotten one that was not up to par. Sometimes one can't tell other times one wonders if the clerk cares enough to toss spoiled product.

We never did call or tell them, I know we should have. It is not a good thing to sell bad food at all. I'm hoping if there were others they did either bring it back or complain some how or another so that "cook" was fired or something. Just never had such an awful roast chicken other than when I thought it looked too "raw", that was also a waste of money cause we didn't eat it.

Hi Nailtech ugh that sounds like either a spoiled chicken or one contaminated with salmonella and not roasted long enough to kill the salmonella. That stuff can really poison you and make you really ill.I have read that most chickens are already contaminated with this and must be thoroughly cooked to kill that bacteria.Do you suppose it had been too long there and someone forgot to remove it from the place where they displayed it?I would not eat it again either as iut sounds like its contaminated.,

I didn't get any poisoning from it at least, I feel lucky about that. I just don't know why it looked and tasted so bad though otherwise. I even showed it to my mother and she agreed, I was expecting her to say that it wasn't all that bad and to just eat it but she threw it away. It could have been in the same place for too long, easily and o the counter spoiling...

I hope no one else had it, I'd hate to think anyone got sick over it. I feel OK today now but not great this morning. I wish she still had the reciept, she throws them out right away. :(

I think it is not fresh anymore. You shouldn't eat it. You might get sickness from it. We really have to be careful on what we are eating and consider the foods' expiration too because we can be contaminated with rotten foods. Have a nice day!

No I won't eat it and I will try to get my family not to eat it either. My dad hates chicken so he won't eat it anyways. I have to now convince my mom to not eat it, or else make her think I'm eating it then throw it away cause I don't want anyone to get sick over it. She will probably say it's nothing bad and still eat it. Then she will get sick from it, too. :P

I think it was not fresh at all, fresh meat will never look yellowish , if one eats them sure to vomit, once hubby went to buy meat, the stuff looked red, but smelly, probably they had added color.. too bad..
