Now I know this is a southern food now, I never heard of it before though as I'm from the North. But my friend who I have reconciled with on FB lately posted it and I am now wanting to make it. It is made with corn meal and other ingredients and simple to just put together with about 4 eggs though. I still wanna try it, it looked so yummy in the pic of it. I love cornmeal, as a kid when my dad went fishing he used this home made cornmeal bait and I used to eat half of it before he used the other half, LOL. It was so good. I don't know what else he made it with but hopefully it was consumable for people too, LOL Have you ever tried Spoon bread or heard of it?

yes she puts a little oil and dust of flour (to keep if from sticking) in the skillett and puts it in a hot oven just to get it warm then adds the cornmeal batter.. and bakes .

I have not heard of spoon bread either. I just recently got a small bowl of bread pudding. It tastes really good. My local grocer makes it and sells it so cheaply, that it would cost more to make it than purchase it. I will have to look for recipes containing spoon bread. I too am from the north and we ate lots of cornbread. Thanks for the idea on a new recipe with an old cornbread tradition.

I love some types of bread pudding. The problem with it is it can just be made so many ways. I have even seen a recipe for it from a donut type of shop that uses day old cut up donuts which they sell at the shop too. I would love to try it the way they showed. They took it out and then poured some rum syrup over it and then iced it as well. Like a bread pudding cake more than a pudding.
