Do you think that the death penalty is a good thing?

I run across this question couple days ago. Someone ask me do you think if a person takes some one's life that he should get the death penalty? I use to think so but know I'm just not sure. I realize that people do things that they regret and they sometime just deserve a second chance, because being to forgive a person is sometimes what's best. I think that murder is wrong but killing someone is just as wrong with the death penalty, some maybe life will do? I'm just not sure anymore I don't know if death penalty is right or just what about you all?
