What Exactly Are People Looking For?

I spend a great deal of my time online. In fact, it's how I earn my living. The thing that gets me nowadays is I see so many people trying to get others to join their business, program, or affiliate group just to earn an upfront commission. This ticks me off because there are so many people that really do need a way to earn some money. They are getting sucked in to the make money now stuff and that's not the case with most any program. I have only seen one program that actually pays cash in hand daily (that is actually worth the effort) and it's mainly for US residents.
Does anyone offer real value anymore? I mean I am all for sponsoring others, but who actually is going to help out the little person? So many have no idea where to begin or how to make sense of this whole online thing and by the time they realize, they are almost always frustrated and then begin to think that earning cash online is a scam. It's also frustrating to those of us who actually do like to help others make it.
When are we going to realize that we can do so much more together than we ever could singularly? It's not all about a dollar sign folks. Don't get me wrong the financial reward is great, but how much greater would it be to see someone actually pay a bill they needed to pay or teach them how to fish rather than giving them a fish?
There are many more types of gratification than just financial. I wish people would take heed. We could save so many with what the internet has afforded us if people would stay honest. Tell it like it is. Stop being in such a hurry to make an earning that you will probably not see for three weeks or better anyway.
Taking the time to truly help someone and put them on the right path of success is more rewarding than anything and just think, once you've done that what a superstar that person will be on your team for what you have taught them. Just some food for thought I hope.

Perhaps the very nature of online business is anti cooperation. A sea of anonymous workers, all focused entirely on their own needs, buoyed by the false promise of easy earnings leads to a degree of insularity that actively mitigates against team work and mentoring. Daily I receive e mails that tell me that if I do not participate in some 'new' venture or another then I am bordering on financial lunacy. But what is on offer is just another 'opportunity' to enrich others but rarely of benefit to me. So I agree that it is nice to work collaboratively, but when we are faced with a sea of singleton entrepreneurs all overtly out for themselves how can we make a valued judgement?

Hi p1kef1sh...I understand your plight exactly. I have to admit, it took me a long time to decide on what I wanted to do. I had been apart of so many MLM's and other programs and was just plain tired of the bogus lies. Now, I am pretty business savvy if I do get to say so myself and I knew I would be an asset if I could just find the right situation. There just was no value anywhere from what I could tell. I had people wanting to recruit me simply because they saw I was online everyday. Never attempting to find out anything about me or what my needs were. I was tired of the same old network marketing tactics that simply do not work. I was nothing more than an upfront bonus waiting to happen to most of them. So, for a long time, I didn't do anything other than an occassional affiliate program like ZNZ or something.
Then one day, I finally decided to take a look at a company who spouted no more prospecting and no more phone calls and such. I was curious. I learned from one opportunity call what was the wrong way, and the write way. While making a valued judgement is tough with things being the way they are, you have to be a person that wants something is my guess (and I'm only guessing cause I'm in no way a guru or an authority. I just love what I do and I don't mind sharing).
I have found most of my success with meeting people online is that I take the time to do so. I am friends with most of my team members. I know their names and the names of their pets, parents, kids etc., but that's just cause I take the time to do so. A person who is only in it for a paycheck won't do that.
A real mentor will want you to learn because your success is the actual success. I loved to be able to refute what you say here, but I am lover of the truth and I simply have to agree with you. Far too many people are singleton entreprenuers who don't care if you make it one way or the other. Its kinda messed up though for those of us who have seen hardship and are finally realizing a small amount of success and would like to see some others do the same. But who can you trust to actually help you get there
I'd also like to add, that some people are simply afraid to step out and see what they are actually capable of also. The anonymity thing simply does not, has not, and will not work online. You have to let people see who you are and what you are about.
You should see my blog, LOL...I tell too much of my business, but that's just me. I decided to this for a living and well...how else will people get to know me if I don't let them see the real me. Thanks for your comment though. I truly hope I can help change some of the stigma that has been placed on this industry. It's not really all that bad. It can be quite fun if you find the right situation that suits you. Cheers! Happy New Year to you.

If we assume that free offers are scams (and I accept that not all are) then why should I be more confident about paying to join? I don't pay my employer and he is well established and a known entity. So why would I 'invest' money with someone that I have never met and whose 'evidence' tends not to be corroborated by anybody that I know or respect? That brings us back to square one of course. My reluctance is shared by many others so I end up a singleton either failing or scamming others In the hope of commission. Your final sentence says it all and is true for all things not just online working. If you fit then the world is your oyster. May your pearls bear you riches.

Well here's a bit of thought for you...you are employed by someone who had to incur costs to have a business...make sense? You are his leverage and you will continue to be so. You are helping him earn his investment back. He has the freedom. You punch and the clock and do as you're told. So comparing having your own establishment to that of your job isn't one.
When you decide to invest, your decision should not be based on whether you have met a person or not (although a good sponsor will reach out) but rather the value that you have clearly evaluated for yourself. Besides this business or any other thing you do in life will be of your own efforts not the effort of someone else.
Your reluctance is shared by those who have some what of jaded view in my opinion. You can't knock anything until you have tried it my friend. And relationships, respect etc., are built over time. Two people who have decided to enter into a situation together and build. We all have a built in mechanism to sniff out when we are being bamboozled. It's called intuition. That in no way means I, you, or anyone should think there is no good in the world. That makes no sense. Just like for every up there is a down, so there is good, just like there is bad. I personally tend to see things from a positive view and have never been scammed online before. Why? Because I believe that we attract what we are, not what we want. So, if either failing or scamming is what you would perceive you would be doing then that's what it is for you. Not so for me. Thank you for the well wishes though. I meet wonderful people all the time who are looking for something for themselves. Not hoping that another individual is some sort of genie who can change their life. There is a very vast difference in giving someone something valuable they can use and selling them a bunch of tomfoolery.
All the best to you.

Most people are not familiar with online money making. And the few that do know, they would rather keep the secret to themselves, while there is so many scams on the internet at the same time which almost every online money maker once fell into it and suffered some loss. I would say if we are able to guide others on internet money making, We are actually building an interdependent and fruitful network which we can then generate more income from the internet than we had all this while.

You make some very valid points. I am really glad I started this discussion. I have gotten much feedback and insight from it. It makes me go back to the drawing board to consider how I can contribute and help those that would really like to know. I wanted to know at one time and there was just no one that would tell me without me having to spend a ridiculous amount of money. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem spending the money if there is indeed some value there, but it has to be there.
In my learning over the course of the years I have spent earning online, there are many things that one needs to understand. First of all that earning online isn't all about the money even though that's what we've been taught based on the "gurus". People that fall for that you can make this much in this small amount of time are setting themselves up for a disappointment. Earning online is all about learning online first and foremost. If that is a concept that many can grasp then they will succeed more times than not.

I have never taken one penny from MyLot. Nor do I intend to do so. If I can help someone else to earn money, I'm glad. However, I've always thought of this site as a social site.

So what do you do with the earnings? You just don't claim them? Just curious. And yes, this site is mainly social in my opinion as well. After making this post, I have to now ask. If the corporate world completely shut down the job market due to rising costs and the effectiveness of the home worker using the internet, what would some of us do? I bet a lot of more open mindedness would come into play.

The online world is very competitive when it comes to making money . I will never make money by joining some body site and affiliate . What i am making online right now is just for fun too small to consider as income .

Silverfox09, I have one question. Why do you say you will never make money online by joining a site or affilate? I am just curious. Okay wait, I have another questions. LOL. What are you doing online right now that is just for? Is it myLot?
The online world is competitive I will agree, but I believe in value and a few other things. There is enough for everyone. There is no such thing as not enough.

Most of the people who join online earning sites are confused and still don't know if the site they are in is legitimate. They are trying their very best to invite their friends and even other people just to earn a cent from it. Realizing in the end that the site that they have joined is a scam. They are rushing to earn small bucks without realizing that they have spent too much time for it. Only a little percentage of online earners are not confused and have direction.

This is such a timely discussion for me. I have been laid off a couple of times and have since decided that I was not going to put my future in the hands of another employer. So I decided to start my own thing. The next question was...what???
Once I decided on the opportunities that interested me, I turned to my sponsors for advice. To my surprise, they were either completely non-responsive or gave perfunctory and boilerplate responses. Now mind you, before I signed on, there were all these supportive messages in between the traditional sales letters, talking about how they were available anytime for ANY assistance. They were extremely interested in my succeeding as they had....what a crock! I quickly realized that I was nothing more than a commission for this person...they said what they had to say to get referrals, but had no intention of following through on any of it.
I realize that there are a lot of scams out there and fortunately, I have listened to my intuition. I am a firm believer that anything that sounds too good to be true, generally is. Now don't get me wrong, I love the opportunities that I chose to participate in and I believe in them. I decided that I didn't want anyone that I was responsible for referring, to feel the way I did. I want to help my team succeed, not only for me, but more importantly for themselves. Everyone who makes the decision to work online, has the desire to make an income for themselves...no matter what form that may take.
A little while ago, I met a young woman on another social network and we quickly became friends. As we began to get to know one another, we discovered that we both were working online (although she is much, much further along than I). She asked me about what I was doing and I told her of my frustration with my sponsors and areas that I was struggling with. She provided me with a number of suggestions and advice (which I am using)...the sort of things I was asking for from my own sponsors. She was such a godsend to me and I knew then that I wanted to be able to do that for someone else. She was honest with me about the realities of online marketing and what I could and should reasonably expect. She cut through the hype for me so that I would be looking at things realistically and could plan accordingly. I appreciated that more than anything. My sponsors (the ones who did respond) kept telling me how easy this would all be...wa-wa-wa. My new friend had nothing at all to gain, except the knowledge that she had helped me. To me, she was the epitome of what a sponsor should be. We now connect several times a day, and I am able to assist her with some of my talents. I personally don't think it takes anything away from your efforts to provide some advice, or to answer a question for someone. We have since collaborated on a number of things and have become sounding boards for one another.
I have since joined her in a couple of her opportunities because she was honest with me and provided me with the direction and advice I needed so badly. I believe that this is what teamwork really is. Unfortunately, not everyone feels as I do. I am trying to build something long-term and sustainable. I want to be able to pay-it-forward to someone else, like my friend has done for me.

LOL. I have to thank you for your response here. Very clear and candid. I think your experience with your sponsors are like most people's. Which is what makes them give up and decide this kind of thing isn't doable when in essence it truly is. I hope your friend can be of use to others. So many need to find a way they can make the ends meet. With the job market changing it left so many not realizing what to do or how to go about things.
I personally am still attempting to make sense of whether or not recruiting individuals is good or not. You have so many that have no idea where to begin. This is like an unsolvable mystery to them. May I'll start holding classes.

Good advice that everyone should follow...a team does so much better when the work together...glad it's possible for you to make your living online! I wish I could figure out how to do it...though I don't have the time it probably takes to work up to that!

Hi jillhill. I like what you had to say. I am so glad you were nice about it. There is an ancient Afrikan proverb that says, "if you want to fast, go alone...if you want to go far, go together".
There is another saying that goes something like, "the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time". I said all that to let you know that you could totally earn an income online if you really wanted to. It's not about getting a whole lot done very fast, but rather accomplishing small tasks that make you feel good and moving on to other tasks. Rome wasn't built in one day and neither will making a profitable business online be successful. It takes time. I hate it when gurus get on here and pretend that you can earn all this money really fast. Not so at all. Now, it doesn't take along time to figure out a system or technique and copy it. But an individual's results is solely based on them and what they are willing to bring to the table as far as determination and effort.
I bet with the right information and an opportunity to blaze your own train in doing so, you'd do pretty well at making an income online.

I agree that there are way too may get rich quick schemes on the internet today. They all promise you to make tons of money. I learned that the hard way myself. I have been floating around the internet now for over 5 years. I have found a few sites that I use daily to earn a little money from. But i still have yet to find my niche I guess. I do agree that if people worked together the internet would be much more profitable. And it would be much more enjoyable. Aside of coming here to MyLot and the few sites I use daily, I have nothing else that I earn from. It would be nice to find that special thing for me.

Hi Writergirl! Well, have you out your words into practice? Have you helped to make a difference in someone's life? All I know is that it has taken me 6 years to make a fairly good amount as a writer for yahoo. I make between $3 and $4 a day, and now since I've been tweaking I am making over $5 a day. It's still not where I want it, but it's getting better. I cannot pave the way for someone else. In not into Internet marketing and Ponzu schemes. It's taken me a long time and hard work to earn what I'm earning now. No one paved the way for me. My own dedication and effort is what helped me get where I am.
I hope you are able to do what you are talking about and I hope that you can teach others how to help themselves. I only know what works for me. I've build a large following on yahoo. All the best to you.

Ahh, PointlessQuestions, I have a strong appreciation for your comment. The truth of the matter is, no one can do it for anyone. If you want to make it in this business a practice, belief, and understanding that it is and will be based on the level of dedication one's own self decides to put into something will be the thing that provides the reward is crucial. Now, my ability to help...certainly there. While I may not have helped a multitude I have helped quite a few. I would not have any success otherwise.
Also, not everything is a Ponzu scheme as you refer. A person could sell apples on a corner every day if they decide to get up and get out there on that corner. Not giving up is what you did and that's what I would tell anyone. I have worked online full time since 2008 when I had to stay at home with my Grandma who needed 24 hour care. I was part time before that. So, while I cannot do it for anyone and I won't nor did I claim that I could, I am certainly knowledgeable to share what I had to do and what anyone else will have to do as well.
I'm not knocking your efforts, but honey I need way more the $6 bucks a day and there's no way I would have taken 6 years just to get to that. I require quite a bit more money than that. I come from a mortgage background so I am use to big bucks. And to be honest making money online is not hard. I am sure you will agree, you have to learn to earn. That is my motto.
If an individual is not willing to learn what it takes, then there is no way they can or will make the living that is quite doable to the one with the proper perspective and initiative.
All the best to you as well.

Mmm if only there were more people with that way of thinking there would be more of us that are successful. A lot of people are only in it for themselves really so we all become skeptical if something will truly work or not. Not only that but if you work with someone who cares enough to get to know you and genuinely help you then of course you will want to be more productive. A lot of them don't seem to get that

We live in a day in age where helping each other is only seen as valuable if there is monetary compensation for it. The people steadily are searching for their way out of the lifestyle they have to live that their kindness & hospitality comes at a price as well. Its not right, but the actions of those in the past have created the present for us now. Greed is the norm and is such a shame.

KidHeartLess, greed does seem to rear it's ugly head quite a bit doesn't it. I don't think we can mention greed without also saying that some, not all, want things handed to them. People don't want to work for it anymore. We are in the microwave society I like to call it. And the only thing that works like that truly is the microwave and even it changes the molecules in your food...lol. I'm just saying.
Nothing in this life can be done fast paced. I only agree with the greed thing because I have seen it in others, but I in no way believe that's all there is. I just know there's no. If that were true then gravity itself would be a lie. There is an exact and utter opposite for everything. So, I know that not everyone is greedy and there are people out there who help. I am a person who has received much of it. As a matter of fact, I expect it. Why? Because that's what I give. And I believe in the power of sowing and reaping.
I give therefore I get is how I vie things. But that's just me. All the best to you.
