After the Indian cricket team lost the ODI series vs pakistan, almost all the ex-cricketers are voicing the change of the captainn. Some are also touting Gautam gambhir andVirat kohli as contenders for this most coveted post , albeit in muted voice. Is the change of guard at the captain-level required now or does everyone needs to provide another chance to M.S. Dhoni ?

I do not think we need a change of guard now.Atleast till next world cup.And this is for the all the formats.Ms Dhoni is doing a fine job as captain and also has been contributing with bat and as wicketkeeper.Well, the problem with other options are that they are yet to prove many things.Virat and Gambhir have been out of form recently.Team morale is down.Rather captain stepping down, we need a better coach.Someone of the calibre of john wright or Kirsten is needed at this point of time for team. But then Dhoni should continue till next world cup after which i think we can look at the replacements. For now, he should be given the cotnrol and should be allowed to showcase on the things. Also the team management should look into infusing new blood and talent into team.It will be an ask but if done properly things could go well.Virat if shows good signs, could be given future captaincy. But then everything is too early to say.We should be focussing on the next world cup and the team. That would be the most important thing at this point of time. Thanks!

I agree with you.As of now if we see the present situation of Indian team we dont have to change the captain. But for the last six month this Indian team is playing all their matches in their home soil.So we dont know how they will perform when they will go play outside India. And i do think Dhoni should lead Indian team till next world cup.And if i am not wrong nxt world cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand, So i suggest that all the Indian batsman be well prepared for those fiery short ball which will be comming their way

While I do not think that changing captain would cause a miracle, and make India winning matches, I think may be introducing split captaincy- separate captains for ODIs and Tests and changing the coach can help.
Also, we should not be bothered by one or two match loss and instead focus on longer term, like the Aussies did during Allan Border's tenure in Mid 1980's to end 1980's.
They lost quite a number of matches initially during team building, but succeeded in the longer term.
The question however is: Will players and board have the patience to play long term game?

It's time to Change captain for India, because every captain has different players in their mind for recommendation for selectors. The team has completely changed in presence of Dhoni, Yuvraj is his best friend so Dhoni will never remove him even if bad performance.Dhoni got ready made team by Ganguly but he changed to downtime in tests.

I dont think change in captain would do any good for the team. Every captain undergoes some painful series but sure that dhoni would come back in this england series
