It doesn't really say. It goes from Cain asking "Am I my brothers keeper", to God basically telling him he knows what happened and dishing out the punishment for it. I've always assumed Cain was saying " I'm not his parents. Therefore I have no responsibility for him. " He was just trying to cover up what he did.

Well, what do you think? Is ANYONE his brother's keeper?

I think not. I'm with Cain on the parent thing. Plus when we become adults, there is no one who keeps us but ourselves. My brother is an adult. I have no responsibility for his actions. Only my own.

i think that is a very good response. cain was only saying that he had no tabs on his brother every single moment of the day. i don't think it was a question that really needed answering. cain was being sarcastic. that's how the story was set up.

I don't think it ever addressed if he was supposed to be his brother's keeper. I think that the fact that the brothers were so different brings up a good underlying point though. Regardless of mother and father, children are born with very separate personalities sometimes and are capable of very different things.

Have Mary-Kate & Ashley realized that such difference exists?

Cain asks but G-d says nothing. Cain whacked him later so to me the answer is Oh Hell No!

Umm, did you READ the story? Cain had ALREADY whacked Abel when G-d asked where Abel was!
