the NCAA National Championship Game is set to be played between Alabama and Notre Dame. ND has not lost yet and Alabama was beaten once by Texas A & M. But I am not convinced ND can beat Bama for all the marbles. What do you think?

That game between Alabama and A&M was an aberration -- a pure fluke. McCarron played very poorly, and Johnny Heisman was made to look like a bigger star because numbnuts himself, #42 Adrian Hubbard, completely fell asleep on the contain plays. He's been sleepwalking through most of the games out there. He came alive against Georgia, but the Tide had been winning despite his presence on the field. All credit to the Aggies, though. They still won the game. They got up so far in the first half that a few broken plays in the second half sealed 'Bama's fate. Notre Dame cannot beat Alabama. I repeat: Notre Dame cannot beat Alabama. It's as simple as that. Now, that's not to say that it couldn't possibly happen. McCarron could throw a few INTs. Yeldon could come in and fumble the ball in a key position. Mosley could miss a tackle. Someone could miss a punt block assignment. So it's not impossible. But assuming we have the average game, where the glaring mistakes don't show up, Alabama will control the field offensively with the best running attack in college football. The Irish should be able to move the ball on the Tide sporadically. 'Bama's secondary isn't all that great. But they're still better than anything Notre Dame has faced, and with increased pressure, a run-stuffing defense and a Fighting Irish offense that will have to rely on the pass, they'll be lucky to put up 13. I have it 35-10 Alabama's favor.

I agree that if both teams play to their potential, Alabama should prevail. Saying the Irish cannot win makes me pause a bit, because a few days ago I would have said Louisville cannot beat Florida!

Well, the Irish can definitely win. But I'm saying that if both teams show up and play their best, without dumb mistakes and whatnot, Alabama wins. All things being equal, Alabama is a far superior team in every category. Notre Dame, save two games, had an incredibly weak schedule. And the only reason the computers skew those results for difficulty is that the SEC beats up on one another and drives the score up or down depending on W/L. Notre Dame could surely win. Anything is possible in football. That's why they play the game. But, as you say, to their "potential," Alabama runs away with the game. Roll Tide.

a formidable game for sure. I live in Alabama and I am also a Crimson Tide fan(Alabama)and I am hoping that they pull this out although I know for sure that Notre Dame is no team to sneeze your nose on here but like I say, let a good game be had and may the best one win.. looking forward to it myself.

I hope you are not disappointed Savvynlady. I think that if it is a close game that it may work in ND's favor, but I think Bama may win by double digits.
