Physical Discipline

I came across something quite interesting. By physical discipline I mean like jumping jacks, push ups, squats, sit ups. I am not sure how effective this would be. I prefer more the old fashioned way. A good swap on the bum is the best way. I don't think exercise would be a good discipline. It might teach them that excessive is a bad thing. Possibly turning them off from it forever. Since in school then encourage it and, have physical education.
Anyways I am curious on your thoughts, about this odd discipline.

Doing this kind of discipline for older children might be just fine but I know for a fact doing it on younger children can actually hurt them. They are not used to using certain muscles and it can actually strain and hurt them. I know because my sister used it on her 5 & 4 year olds and they were hurt from it!
I agree with you that a spanking usually works on most children, I use this on two of my three children. My youngest hates being put in time out so that is what I use on her, since it works better and makes her listen more. I never thought time out would ever work but for her it actually does.

Hi friend, Exercise is good for us, but too much of anything is not good. Various kind of exercise are available and we can select the proper one for us to make us fit, physical discipline is important in our life to take care about our health

although this would make for a more fit child, I can't see how this form of punishment will make the child see how "wrong" his or her action is.

There are more than one ways to look at this and even though I totally agree with what you have to say, I am going to evince some alternatives.
Some people getting punished this way are actually getting fit in the process. Also some people might actually go home and exercise to build enough muscles so that when they get punished they wont feel that much strain to do 10 push ups because they get used to them.
Its like maths. A lot of students do not like maths so teachers use that as a way to punish students. Ever so often you have a few students who go home and practice maths to such extreme, where if their punishments are maths problem, they will no longer classify it as punishment. This is because they get so skilled on it; the maths problem that they would usually take 2 hours to do as punishment, they can finish in 10 minutes. So it is really actually based on the personality of the specific person being punished.
Practically though most people mind is set in such away that anything that they classify as punishment they will prefer to stay far away from. And for that reason I agree with your presupposition. It might end up that kids start to actually get fat and ignore exercise because exercise to them is consider bad hence "punishment"
