You should research the other stores on ebay to see how successful they are, how they operate, and how many there are. Ebay is harder than it looks, be ready to stand at the post office for hours, and watch the shipping charges, they can bite you in the hiney.

I don't like bites directed to the hiney...LOL. My daughter will help me to research this idea. She thinks it could fly. She has sold many things on Ebay

I think the consignment idea is a nice touch, then you might be able to get more storage if it works. If it does not work, you are not out the expense of a mortar and bricks store. It is sounding a lot like an E-bay reseller. I only know a little bit about Ebay, although I took a not for credit class at the local community college that was very informative. All the best luck to you.

We have a few consignment stores in our town, but none that I know of that sell on Ebay. I would also have things of my own that I would sell, this would increase my profits.

A little initiative never hurt anyone. If it is possible, based on above remarks, then by all means if you got the time use it to your advantage. Would such a project mean that you would have to set up a business for tax purposes and can it be considered hobby? Just curious...

That is a good question. If it becomes profitable then I would imagine I would have to set up with the State for taxes, etc. My daughter will be able to assist me on this one. She is quite savvy with this stuff.

So did you start with your idea? You could research it until you paralyze yourself, or just get going (I should take my own advice) I would document that you are doing it as a business, not a hobby then all of your household expenses can be prorated, like your internt connection, etc. Even a percentage of housepayments, utilities, etc.

Wow...I didn't know that Gerty. I am still in the thinking about it phase of it all. With Christmas only a few weeks away I have to buckle down and get those gifts made. I hope to look further into the starting of this next year.

Thank you. I am limited on storage space so I would take in a little at a time.....maybe start with family members and their stuff.

I know of people that go to tag sales and resell on Ebay for a hefty profit.

I think it is a great idea. We have had a blast with ebay. We don't have a store though, we just sell stuff from around the house.
