I think paypal deposit money to your paypal account when you verified it with credit card or debit card. Paypal take some of your money and put it in your paypal balance when you complete the verification process.

I use debit card to verified paypal. Paypal take some of my money from my bank account and put it in my paypal balance.

Hi friend, it means that your paypal balance is 2.36 dollars and you can withdraw the amount to your bank account, if you verified your bank account with paypal, or you can keep it in your paypal account and withdraw the money after getting more in your paypal account

Thanks for sharing From which country you are, does paypal transfers your money to your bank account automatically, you must log in to your account and see details of transactions there, hope it will help you.

If you haven't used your Paypal account before than it's more likely that the $2.36 is from when you verified your account. Remember when you verify your Paypal account with your credit card they take a small amount from it of 2 to 3 dollars and deposit it into your Paypal account.

You better withdraw it quick, before they notice you got it for no reason!

According to you, it's you who made a visit to paypal after one year, so there are possibilities that you made a cashout from some sites long back and forget it. Checkout the history and summery when and from where did you get the amount.

Well you haven't used it in a year I would call them or in there there should be able to see account summery and I would look up when the money came in and see where it came from. Because if you where online over the year you might not have reliazed or remember that you got paid for something or like you said you have a paypal credit card you could have over paid and them put into your account instead of sending you money personally.
