I don't get some men at all. They have so low thinking that they go on passing comments, if a girl is wearing a short dress that means she is inviting a rapist. Or she is a open vault, and anyone can take her advantage. I want to ask why women can't roam around wearing any kind of dress she wants to? Why men have to get so drooled over a woman just by the way she looks or the way she wears her clothes. In fact get so excited just by seeing her dress that you get thoughts of raping her?? get me some cold water to digest this kind of sick things. I am never going to buy them. Why can't men have some sort of high esteem or some dignity if not for a woman then for human race? In India there are monks or saints who roam without wearing a piece of cloth on their body that time no woman gets excited or attracted to them, why? The Rape case in many countries are growing constantly but i want to know who needs to calm down? Men need to think a level up than what they think about woman. Or a woman should just wear a robe and veil and roam around just to cover herself from the beasts around her.

Well, I think that sometimes that women choose the clothes that they wear with the intention of getting laid. However, I don't think that there is any time that it is appropriate for a man to think that a woman is asking to be raped because of the kind of clothes that she wears.
With that said, I am the kind of woman that tends to dress mostly modestly, that is partially because of the fact that I am married and it is also because of the fact that I don't want men (or anyone for that matter) to think wrongly of me.

I do not believe so. A woman has every right to decide how she would dress; it may be a short dress or a long dress. If a man gets excited by her dress, it is his problem and not her. He will, rather, try to find out the way of getting rid of this problem.

"He will, rather, try to find out the way of getting rid of this problem" - The problem, as he sees it, is that as a result of her wearing that particular dress, he wants something. His solution to that problem may be, simply ...
to TAKE it, no matter what it might cost another person, her in particular. You know, of course, that the streets of Delhi abound with such men? The refugees that get raped in that particular town ... It's terrible! And it's not the way they dress.

No one has the right to rape anyone for any reason at all. Women should be allowed to wear whatever they want and a man should not touch her if she does not want it. There is no excuse for rape at all. Clothing or no clothing, it doesn't matter. I think some men have this warped thinking that they are in control over women and should be allowed to do whatever they want to them. It is wrong. Men and women are equal and should be treated as such. In my opinion, every man that rapes a woman should be raped themselves so they can know what it feels like, that would put an end to this occuring...

I think in this case women aren't as caring about what the man looks like. I mean even in the U.S. there are some men who believe a woman in a short dress or tight fitting outfit is "asking" for it.
I couldn't tell you why they get those thoughts. It almost makes you think that men literally have no self control or something like that.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i have always felt that even a fully clad girl has equal chances of getting molested by a man as wearing a short skirt. The fact is that the minds of men have become so dirty that they see woman as an object and they find it a pleasure to harass them. No matter whatever a girls don, she will always be in the eyes of a dirty man.
What say?

Even if woman wear veil, there will also be sick man who attempt to rape her. In my country where the moslems are majority, there was a rape case although the woman who has been raped wear a hijab. So a sick man will take advantage of situation no matter what the woman wear, I think what should be cured is the mind of some sick men, not what a woman wearing. Some men just blame it to women although it's clearly the men who cannot control himself.

Short dress is inviting but it doesn't mean any guy has the right to force a girl for their own pleasure.
This only shows how men (not all) are dangerous than any wild beast.

Good day to you ArchieO,
With regard to your topic, it is really maddening that some men think of this way. Wherein, wearing a short dress does not constitute this way. They are absurd.

The dress or clothes are not the total cause of it but just a part of it. The dress could be the reason for it but it also could be one of the way to prevent and avoid it from happen. People may say that even with proper dress that thing could happen to woman. Yes, there is no total guarantee that woman will totally safe with full- covered dress but if it could be one of the way to avoid it then it is better to prevent than to cure.(^^)

Wearing short dresses doesn't mean that man has the right to behave anything at a girl. Each of us have our own right to wear, speak and do anything but in practical it is not the real thing. Before you perform every action in your life make sure that how the world will see you, a positive or negative . Adjust with the surroundings this is what we have to do.

Hi friend, each and every one have the rights to wear dress based on their interest and dressing sense is not a factor for rape. But some men will get tempted if they saw a girl with short dresses and do such kind of unwanted things. We have the ability to control the temptation, if the person consider the girl as his own sister, then this kind of crimes will never happen

No-one has the right to rape anyone, whether they wear a mini skirt or in an old age home. Rape is power-play and has actually nothing to do with intimacy. I feel that if a woman has enough respect for herself, she will dress accordingly.

I think it depends on what type of dress the girl is wearing. For example, if a girl is wearing a far-too-tight dress which is scandalously short, making her come off as an 'easy' woman, then it's possible to get attention from unsavory people.
I place more blame on the rapists though. They are the ones who make the ultimate choice of rape. Even if the girl is wearing inappropriate clothing, the fact is that the man (or even men) is the one who chose to rape her. If he can't take the clothes that she's wearing why not walk away? Nobody is forcing him to rape her. If the man thinks that all women wearing short dresses should be raped then he has a mental problem which needs to be checked by psychiatrists.

Not to offend anybody but I think nobody wants to see a wiener cause they don't look ver appealing. I think clothing makes people look sexy and little clothing makes them look sexier. The libido of those men who see women with really short clothes is heightened because their imagination is taking over them, I know I get turned on more if I don't know what's underneath the clothes and the skimpy clothing especially if it is flattering suggests nice things under them. Men are just humans, with human bodily functions that react on human's basic instinct to want to reproduce. So if men see suitable mates, their bodies react to them but as long as they can intros themselves, there isn't a problem. However not many people can do that, especially those who are sexually deprived and want it badly. The best way is to avoid wearing skimpy clothing if you cannot handle the way you will be looked at by others. Dress at your own risk.

Of course it isn't. But if some reprobate sees it as a commodity and is stronger than you, how is that fact going to help you?
If Stonewall get their own way with UK legislation, men may end up having to do the same thing. And if some of them, like Sir Ian McKellen, get their own way, people will have to be quadruply careful how they dress their children.

What a terrible comparison to make. A person's body is not a commodity.
It's not a woman's fault that society has sexualized the female body to the point where she needs to actively think about how she should go around dressed. It's not like men have to do the same thing.

I see that is just wrong of a man to say. Because if they now anything about rapist they don't give two cents about what a women is wearing if they are into women. They don't care about the clothes so what a women is wearing is not relevant to a rape.
There are women raped for just wearing jeans and long top, or sweats.
I've been married for almost 3 years and I can tell you for a fact that my husband doesn't care what I"m wearing to I'm always hot looking even with spit up on me and my hair a mess it's still hot and he would just rip off my clothes if he could.
A rapist has something he/she is looking for most of the time it's height, weight, hair color, body shape, age, eye color and it could also be that they know the women or she has done something to make that person upset. It could even be what she has said to the guy or she could have been in the wrong place at the wrong time because there are some rapist that don't have a type at all.

you are right... i hear people comment that way. i love wearing short dresses, shorts, or any sexy clothing. but i see to it that what i wear fits the place i am going. like for example, if i am going to church, i would wear those skimpy clothes i wear to the mall or to the beach. in our place, some people would really notice and turn their heads to girls who dress i like i do. so what i do, i wear pants in going out of the house. and when im already in the cab, i take it off, replace it shorts or skirt. depends on what im wearing. sounds weird, but i have to do it if i want to look good.

No.Anyone who thinks this is stupid and shouldn't be allowed to reproduce.Women often wear short dresses simply because they are not tall.Do men expect inappropriate "action" if they go shirtless?probably not,at least from straight females.I agree with what you say about monks.it;s about having a vow of poverty or sometjig like that.In poor countries, people may not have much more than rags to wear--this does not mean they invite inappropriate attention!
