My experiences with "Racism"

I don't mean to offend anyone and if I do it was never intended but I'm a little torn. Few weeks ago while joking with two of my co worker friends, another co worker walked in the conversation and I guess for an attention grabber, told me that another co worker "lynched" me. Funny thing is, no one else allegedly heard him say this to me even though there were three of us standing there. Instead of being disrespectful, I walked away. I wanted to report him but it would be his word against mine seeing that no one else heard. Another situation had me dealing with an angry drunk client, and in front of police and other staff members, this client call me a " n....r" in front of them. I could only respond professionally but it bothered me that I was the only one that responded, and only one staff member came to me and expressed disgust. Everyone else pretty much treated it like nothing happened even though we are supposed to be a team. I've never really experience anything like this until I moved Upstate NY. It does upset me deeply but am I taking all this too personal??

And that's what I do and try to not let it get the best of me but time and time again people make me feel like I should do more or wasn't offended enough or stuff like that.

I've dealt with reverse racism, as I am white, and I've also had to deal with it because my oldest daughter is biracial - She is 1/4 Hispanic. My youngest daughter is white, Hispanic, and Apache and inherited all of the prominent features of her tribe... but I haven't had to deal with racism when it comes to her - yet. Most of the time, when people have spewed out racial crap, I simply ignore them. Fewer people "walk the walk" than they do "the talk." The only time I was offended was when my former landlord, who lived immediately next door to me, came over drunk and threatened to kill my oldest daughter and her father, calling them "f**kin sp!cs," and detailed how he the method that he wanted to use in doing so.. I called the police of course, and they sent four non-white deputies (this was near Birmingham, Alabama, btw)... who were less than sympathetic. Since he had the key due to being the landlord and lived so close, I just packed all of my daughters belongings into the car and whatever was important of mine and her father's and we booked it out of there, two hours later. I sent my daughter to stay with a friend while her father in I lived in my car for a while, motels, and whatever crash pads we could find until I could save up for another place. The second time was when I was working at a gas station. I don't know if you know a fleetcard is, but a special fleetcard called Fuel Man has its own separate charge card machine at many gas stations. I was the only white employee out of approximately ten people who worked at the store. One evening I had a line of customers going when a man with a Fuel Man card came in. My only task when it came to those was to give the Fuel Man customer the slip to sign. The man at the front of the line got mad and began yelling that I was being racist against him. When I came into work the following afternoon, my boss explained that the irate customer was an off-duty police officer and that he had come in that morning to attempt to get me fired. Not only was I appalled, but I was very angry. People assume that because my daughter has light skin, blue eyes, and strawberry hair that she must be white for many generations... when her paternal grandparents are from the Acapulco area of Mexico. People assume that because my stepdaughter lives in NM, has a longer nose, tanned skin, dark hair and eyes that she must be 100% native... The heritage of her tribe is Apache, African American, and Hispanic.. Not to mention that her maternal grandfather was 100% Hispanic and she has a 'fro going on. Racism, to me.. Is just pointless. If we were blind.. we'd never notice. And when we're all lined up in our graves because we've killed each other due to race.. well.. we won't be able to care or notice who's next to us then, either. *Shakes head*
