I say, "Hello .... oh, goodbye...", as it zips past my brain in the morning. I wish, I truly wish, I still had enough nervous energy for it to be a problem .....

I used to smoke as well, but, I noticed that it, instead of reducing my anxiety, made it stronger, so, I decided to quit, and now, when I feel myself anxious, I take a few minutes to do something different to my work, I may walk a little, do some cooking, drink coffee, instead of smoking. We all have responsibilities but, our health is of more importance. Some exercise, at night, also have helped me to reduce tension and stress.

Go for a brisk walk. I try to do something good and healthy for my body. If I can't get outside, then I put on some jazz or big band music and dance. Anything to tire out my body and use up that energy in a positive manner.
Perhaps take up knitting, crocheting, woodworking, or painting or do something constructive and productive with your hands. That way, you will feel good about using up your 'nervous' energy.
