I always spend a lot of time in using the computer, that is day and night, and before going to bed I have this habit of washing my face. My mother always told me that washing my face after a long hours of using the computer may damage my eyes. Is it true? If it is, how can it damage my eyes? Do you do this also?

I think so also, base from the reminders of older people, your eye sight will be poor when washing our face after using for longer hours using the computer. We should at least close our eyes for five minutes to rest our eyes. Eat a lot of squash it helps to keep our eyes clear as ever.

Like you do, some colleagues of mine told me that it is not advice able to wash my eyes when I did use computer for a long period of time because it will be damage. I asked how and they said it's because of the nerves in the eyes that are tired and will be watered through washing our face.We may not notice the effect for the mean time but time will come that we will be suffering different kinds of eye diseases.

Washing your face will not damage your eyes unless you are washing it with acid or some other corrosive element. Long hours at the computer will strain your eyes, but a good night's sleep should take care of that problem.

That is why it is not advisable to be staying that long in front of a computer. We should take constant breaks.
Have a nice day!

I always wash my face before going to bed, but when I got addicted to mylot and clixsense, I expererienced several headaches and my eyes were like burning. Then I was thinking it might be for staying too long in front of computer till at night then washing my face and eyes. I then try to really stop staying in computer till night and rest my eyes for some hours before washing and my eyes were ok again.

That sounds totally ridiculous. There is no possible harm that can come from washing one's face any time of the day or night.
It's always a good idea to get up every now and then from the computer rather than sitting for hours at a time. Make a coffee or gety a drink or do the dishes, make a snack, sweep the floor, tidy the room, go to the loo, brush your hair. Do anything that will give you a break for at least a minute or two.

I encountered this issue before but I don't think there is a scientific basis for this one. I usually watched my face about long hours of computer and I don't necessary relate it to my vision. However, I use a facial astringent so that I won't have to wash my face because I am getting straight to bed. Washing my face usually makes me wake up rather than sleep.
