I began giving blood in 1968 and have been giving at least four times a year since that time. It began because a friend of mine was battling leukemia. But when I found out how easy it is and how much good can be done, I determined that I would donate as long as I am able. If you are a donor, I commend you. If you are not, I encourage you to give it a try.

I'd give all the blood they want if they could put me to sleep first...or give me some laughing gas. I hate needles. The sight, the feeling. I have to find other ways to help other people, cause this one is just not for me. But I comment you for doing this especially on a regular basis. Just to know a part of you is helping save others lives is a great reward I bet.

I know there are some, like you, nnk, that cannot deal with needles. And there are some who have circumstances that disqualify them from donating. But those who have never tried are the ones I want to encourage.
I think it is among the best things I can do and have done to be of physical help.
