maybe its weird to ask but I wonder often what is the purpose of friends here when it seems like the people I link up with don't really seem to participate too much..I'll ask anyway..what's the purpose of friends here? It seems like people are too focused on discussions..

Discussions are a way for people to share their ideas on this site which are public for the world. Friends on here is a private way to share and discuss things.

I get what you are saying totally. It's just that when I had a long list of friends here, we never talked about anything. as a matter of fact, the way I came to have so many friends here had me thinking that we were to get paid for friends too..the offers to add came so steady but nobody had anything to talk about!

This is a discussion site. We should all be interested in discussing things here! We add friends so its easier to find discussions at first, but my friends here have become real friends to me, no longer just about an easy way to find things. I add people to my list that I have things in common with so we can discuss them together...

I appreciate the way you broke that down..so now when I start my new friends list, I will keep that in mind and make sure that things don't get boring like they did in the past..thanks for responding!

People are focused on discussions. People add me on here, and I just accept them, it helps me in a lot of ways like I get notified on my email when they post discussions which make it quite easier for me since I'm just using the installed browser on my mobile phone. XD and when you want to ask people stuff that you can't put on discussions. It's quite useful too. :)

i think discussions are maybe 75% of it, perhaps the other 25 will come once you've been on for a while and recognize some of the people that share the same values as you.
