I Bought Mum A Clock On Ebay

I told her about it earlier when I rang her up. She said, 'Have I paid for it?' (as I can order things for her on her behalf if need be). I said, 'I'm not that tight. No, I've bought it for you. You said you wanted a little clock like the one that broke so I found one on Ebay that's identical to it..an Acctim.' 'Oh, right, thanks very much!' was her reply. Awww! I love the feature on Ebay where you can pick the price you want to pay. Granted, it was slightly dearer than on Amazon but I'd much prefer to give a shop a sale on Ebay as some will be struggling to make a profit right now. I've even bought her 2 Duracell batteries as I know she won't have any in the house. They were from Ebay as well. It's fast becoming my favourite store for finding stuff that's hard to find on the High Street! How about you?

It's so nice of you. I guess all parents, especially mothers will be happy to receive any gifts from the children. I have not purchases anything from ebay before, perhaps I should give it a try.

I tend to look for sellers who have extremely high ratings as it gives me reassurance that they know what they are doing! My desk, for example, is brilliant and no way could I have bought anything like it in Town anywhere. Give it a try, even to browse a while. You could be there for hours, believe me, it's quite addictive!

That is good for you and your mom. I also shop at ebay. I did my christmas shopping at ebay and I was really satisfied. And recently I bought a gap flip flop at ebay. It is good too. The prices are good too. :-)

The thing is, we tried finding it at Argos, the store Mum bought this particular clock from, originally and they don't seem to sell it anymore. So, I got the idea to go on Ebay as I've been having good luck with it lately and thought, 'What the hell' and found one in about 10 seconds. I knew the make of the clock you see, which is an Acctim. That always helps and I'm glad you have made some good purchases too.

I do find it very convenient to shop online. Have tried it as well on Ebay. However, I did have one bad experience with an Ebay seller. I purchased a hand bag. Although he did mention that it was second hand and the white color isn't that white anymore coz it has been used for quite sometimes. But on the pictures that he posted, it looked real nice and the price was reasonable. When I received the bag, I was disappointed to see that aside from a lot of scratches on one side of the bag, there were pen marks all over the inner part! I was very frustrated!

Yes, that does happen sometimes. I would say, though, that most people tend to be honest on ebay. It's in their own interests to do so. Have you reviewed the seller? They all have ratings now, don't they?

Yes, they do have ratings. And that is exactly what made me more furious coz he had a 100% rating. I just really wanted to deal with those sellers having such ratings. And that happened...I didn't hear anything from him. I reported it to Ebay, but didn't do anything about it as well.

I wonder if you order the clock on Ebay in Carlisle ,then they deliver it to your Mum in Blackpool.

You got it right my friend! All I had to do was 'change address' and the clock will go to Mum. She doesn't have a Paypal account so it made sense for me to pay for the clock. Together with the batteries the total was only about £14. The clock itself is very small and will fit onto a narrow wall by the back door, as she sits in the extension there. She's had the clock before (from Argos) but they don't seem to sell it anymore. This is why I chose ebay as - if it were being sold anywhere it would be on there!

Aside from local online shops here in my country, i do shop at ebay and have successful transactions and shipments over the site. I love the fact that sellers over the site give constant communication between it's buyers. because it is the most important thing most especially in such virtual shops.

I agree with that wholeheartedly. It's a far more personal experience than - say - Amazon, although many high street stores such as John Lewis have brilliant websites where their after sales service is exactly the same..provided you print off emails with all the order details in it!

hi Janey yes I like Ebay too b ut I have now three messages from ebau and firefox stopped me from opening them telling me the site was a fraud and not ebay at all. Really odd but thats okay. As the sales did not have any thing to do with me. I bought a lot of paperbacks in excellent condition from a woman who just wanted to make a little money. she gave me a real bargain bu t the shipping cost was more than what I paid for the paperbacks. However you can get some good bargains there.

We're really lucky in the UK with it being small, although up in the Scottish Highlands they have to pay more for postage due to distance. However, compared to huge distances travelled in the US, it's a joke lol.

I actually prefer Amazon as I find it easier to use, but I hardly ordered things online at all last Christmas! Still can't beat the High Street for those last-minute Christmas Eve "whoopsies" though!

Haha! Very true. It's like the chandelier I bought from BHS in December (that I had to take back because it was broken) and it had a £60 sticker on the box. It should've read £75. It then HAD to be sold on to me for £60 as it wasn't my fault the sticker had the wrong price on it. It was a shame I had to take it back but I've since ordered a chrome and glass one (greatly reduced) so fingers crossed it will be fine once it arrives in store next week.

I've grown to like it more than Amazon. In fact, the clock I bought Mum is slightly dearer than one sold on Amazon but I just couldn't bring myself to use Amazon. I've noticed a lot of their (once cheap) products are steadily rising in price. As some money experts have said, 'Don't automatically assume Amazon is the cheapest,' and they're right too..they're not!

Ebay is awesome!! It's the best place to shop ever.. I bought many things for my mom, and right it is also her fav site. My mom and I love sitting in front of the computer surfing the website to see anything that we would like to get. Shopping on ebay right now is our mother - daughter thing.. =)

Yes, whenever Mum comes to stay we spend many an hour online. Mum doesn't have a computer you see so relies on me doing the browsing and shopping for her. I think Ebay has improved greatly as I have spells of using the site..and the latest has been the best experience by far!
