Did you merge your MSN account with Skype?

Since MSN will not be available soon later, and therefore today I merged it with my Skype account. From now on I use my MSN account to sign in and the software will be shown as Skype. Perhaps I need some time to adjust to this new change. Since I have hard time to recognize my friends listed in MSN before.

They are not shutting down MSN. It is Messenger.
On 15th March 2013 we are retiring the existing Messenger service globally (except for mainland China where Messenger will continue to be available) and bringing the great features of Messenger and Skype together. Update to Skype and sign in using a Microsoft Account (same as your Messenger ID) and all your Messenger contacts will be at your fingertips. You'll be able to instant message and video chat with them just like before, and also discover new ways of staying in touch with Skype on your mobile and tablet.
Same login, same contacts, just a different interface.

According to the email, it says:
Already have Skype?
1. Update to the latest version of Skype.
2. Sign in with your Microsoft Account.
3. Merge your existing Skype account with your Microsoft Account.
Here is a screenshot of the latest updated Skype. Sign in with your Skype account, Microsoft account, or Facebook. Once you merge them, they will all be online at the same time. Your contact lists will still be separate according to your existing Skype account or your MSN account or Facebook.

What do you mean by MSN won't be available after some days? are they shutting down completely? Well i don't open my Skype it is just some rare days i do that but till today i haven't made any calls from my Skype account. But i have lot of important emails linked with my hotmail account, i am worried if they shut down probably my Paypal account will be cut down too.

Like youless said, hotmail, msn, live email accounts are not affected. Microsoft is retiring their current Messenger service. Just MSN/Windows Live (whatever you want to call it) Messenger, nothing else. No email is being shut down.

I don't like this change, can we keep them both?
I use my skype for very personal chats and video calls.with my very close friends. On the other hand, I have a lot of contacts on msn and I talk to them rarely. Most of the times my skype is online for my friends and my msn messenger is offline!
I insist, I don't like that change and I want to keep both!!

If you want progress, you have to accept change.
It actually will be easier. You can access both your Skype and Messenger in one place instead of having to log in at 2 different places.
I think everybody is getting a little panicky over nothing. It really isn't going to be that big a deal. Everybody is letting their imagination run wild.
Read the FAQs to see how simple it will be.

You still keep both, but you have to access them through Skype. The contact lists stay separate. Messenger is being retired on 3/15/13. Unless you live in China, it will be gone.

May be I have a misunderstanding, according to the news from Microsoft, they said that their MSN business will mix together with Skype, but they didn't say that they will delete MSN totally,so in my mind I think that the MSN still can be used and just change the admin,is that right?

They will still stay separate, only now you can access them all in one place which, when you think about it, is actually more convenient than logging into half a dozen different places.
See the link I provided in my comment in #9 for more info on how it will work.

I may have I don't recall. I don't use SKype or MSN much. Use MSN with my Bing account. When I first went online I used MSN and AOL. I haven't had any experience with SKype at all but have heard it is fun. Maybe that was from you. hehe

I didn't know they were shutting down MSN in most countries. I only used it in my last job (which I already resigned from last November) because sales persons were required to be online. We also open Skype too for sales and technical inquiries. Good thing yahoo messenger is still staying strong.

True. Some of my friends are still on Yahoo Messenger. I would just go on there if they wanted to chat with me. It's still a great chat messenger though.

All my Chinese friends never chat with me using Messenger, it wouldn't change any thing after all, Microsoft discontinue the chat feature in MSN for those outrside China affect little on me and my friends. I guess it is cost effective to merge both into one for Microsoft, it makes plenty of sense.

I still not do it , because most of my customers and supplier still are using MSN , so it is not necessary for me to do this thing, MSN service will keep same as before, there is little person use Skype in my customers, MSN is still a good communication tool between us, I wish MSN will go on in future in China

jackyang, you are correct that it is not necessary for you to use Skype. MSN is retiring Messenger except for mainland China. See my comment below (#8). But China is the only place where Messenger service as it is now will still be available. If any of your customers or suppliers are outside the mainland, they will have to use Skype starting on March 15. But the Microsoft contacts will still be separate from any Skype contacts.
