There are things you like and dislike about your country or your culture. What could be that things you like or dislike about it. I am contented for being a Filipino and I like my cultures and traditions. What I don't like about the Philippines is that why are so many Filipinos are poor? Why is it that our rivers are polluted and Manila has lots of garbage? Why is our government officials corrupt?
What I like in the Philippines is the people can be happy all the time and people are hardworking and loves their family. We are warm to people even if they are strangers or foreigners. I love that Filipinos understand a little Spanish and also speaks in English. I love that our culture is simple and practical, we love singing and cooking.

i love this country that which has given me everything. I am not pure Filipino - I am a mix of two races Chinese and Filipino blood runs in veins and i have both love and respect for these two that has different cultures.
Since we are to talk about the country Philippines here this is what i will share at this moment - what i like and don't like about the Philippines.
What I like:
I like the Philippines for its rich culture, for the many places we can all be proud, the many tourists spots that have given recognition and that has put our country in the map...
I like this country of ours for the people who are always kind, who are full of smiles and love even for strangers.
I like this country for the great heroes and rich culture, for the outstanding achievements of the well known or popular people who gave us good recognition as well.
I like our faith, our country that probably is the one that is very Godly, always bowing down in prayers, that we are faithful and we trust in God.
i like our people's courage to fight and stand out and stand against others who seemed to need to be opposed - like that when we created the first revolution (peaceful) in Asia!
What I don't like:
I honestly think we can get away with being always late - without good sense of time people always late, and so on.. i'd say this is dragging us down. very much like the crab mentality.
I don't like it when we are always only hoping to be like the americans - their freedom, the south koreans - for the kind of culture and drama they have, the beauty, or japanese - for the technology they have created... and this dream of ours only is stuck at a certain stage... and that is what i don't like about us... we seemed to have not tried harder to improve ourselves. (see the thailand or vietnam, we have already had many steps ahead of these country... but now.. they seemed to have advanced and we- are still where we have started off)
I do not like it when people or Filipinos here act as if nothing is there to be worried about - like most poor families who does not think about the future of their children and still manage to bring more children to the world!!!
I do not like it when Filipinos don't give importance to the things that matters most... whenever something is happening, we are not worried and asks God to just help us.. yes that is good to be faithful and hopeful but sometimes that attitude allows us not to strive forward because we think everything is in God's hands.

hi avery! that is true! If it is not irony - then it must really be that our mindsets have to change... we have got to think how the rich thinks (they always think ahead, they prepare and they calculate their moves) so when they do this, they plan as well. That is where the difference is... many poor families just let "God" do everything and wait for him to bless them, and at the same time complain about the government's lack of programs that helps them... hehehe

You have said it all. Many Filipinos are not responsible too the main reason why there are poor people. I see the elite and rich people are afraid to have many children and they sometimes just have 2 children and they own a luxury vehicle and a nice home. But, then look at those poor families who can't eat a decent meal anymore and manages to have 12 kids!

I am from Philippines. I like Philippines because the people are very hospitality. The Philippines is the number texter in the whole World or Asia. Basketball is number 1 sports that I love so it makes number 1 sports in basketball. We have many world boxers like Nonito Donaire and Manny Pacquiao.
I dislike that employers are not thinking business. Employees cannot really survive in daily needs. I do not like corruption in the Philippines. that makes me silly.

That sounds true for most Filipinos. Life is hard here but not really hard, for most people yes but generally life here is okay and there is hope.

I like the Dominican Rep, as it is warm there, with beautiful beaches and countryside. The people are also friendly, with a sense of humour, have culture and tradition! What I dislike is that they always seem to have electricity and water shortages, which affect your life in many ways. I had to leave the country after living there for 12 years and now regret not having gotten the citizenship, even though it is not really a good one to have!

I don't like that most of our people are undisciplined and try to pull each other down.

there are so many things that we have to be proud of as filipinos. Our culture, natural resources, places, people and a lot more are enough for me to like and love being a full blooded filipina. we are distinct from others, we are talented, we are friendly and hospitable and most especially we fear and love God. if there are some things that make our country's image bad, we can always make a remedy to bring back the trust of others by helping one another and that's all that matters.

I know each country is unique and I wonder if I was not born Filipino and I wonder if other cultures can adjust to life here easily. However, i cannot imagine myself not being a Filipino.

I'm an indonesian, what i like from my country is the food, warm welcome people, lots of great tourism, but onfortunately the government is abandon this treasure,we have lots of great beaches but just a little of it that maintained by the local authority. What i don't like in our country is the coruption has been our leaders bad habit from many years, even though the government tries to wipe out this habit, until now i haven't seen any big improvement. The discrimination in religion is also what i hate the most from my country. There are some rules that is take sides to just one majority religion.

I see, it's almost the same here in the Philippines but religion is not a great problem except for Muslims in Mindanao.

Well, I am from the United States of America (or USA), and I can say right now that there are too many things about my country that I don't like, and that it would take me too long to name it all, but the main things that I don't like are the closed-mindedness of most people in this country, the lack of affordable health care, especially, mental health care, and the lack of proper education. People in this country take so much for granted, they live in one of the richest countries in the world, but we sure don't act like we do.
The things that I do like about this country is the diversity of the people who live here, the different landscapes, and the fact that people can pretty much go anywhere that they want to around here. Again, this is something else people take for granted.

Hi, I am from Malaysia where there are 3 major ethnic. But we get along well. I always love the friendly conversations with them. What I don't like is sometimes it can be very cruel when they are mad with money. Money drives them crazy. Everybody busy to find some money here and there.

I think that is similar here in the Philippines. There are also lots of ethnic groups here but we manage well and get along well too.

I live in America and there are a lot of things that I don't like about this country but there are things that I like as well. What I really don't like about America is a lot of the people here. People here like to complain way too much when there situation isn't even remotely bad compared to much poorer countries where people struggle to find nourishment each day.
I also don't like how wasteful we are. We waste millions and millions of pounds of food each year and we waste it because we are trying to make it fast and our haste leads to waste. I also think it's dumb that people in our culture feel like they have to have the latest and greatest technology and the more we think like this the more our waste accumulates.
Still how developed America is makes for some good opportunities. Yet I don't like how employers here like to skimp on hours so that employees don't get full time jobs and that way employers don't have to pay benefits to their workers.

Thanks for the share. I think that is the problem of most progressive countries they tend to be wasteful of resources. Good to know some trends in other countries.

I'm from Romania, I love my country and I am not ashamed of it. I am only ashamed in the name of those romanians that create a bad image especially abroad. Of course every country has it's positive sides and negative sides, but in comparison to the other european countries Romania has to grow more. Probably, the most upsetting fact about this country is that many people leave the country because of the really small and miserable salaries. Not to mention that everything is really expensive. The main problem in this country is corruption, and as long as people vote without using their brains, it will always be.

I came to realize every country has their own problems. I wonder if there is a nearly perfect country out there?
