My family and my aunt together with her sons a total of 7 members. We went to SM Mall of Asia to have a bonding moment with them. We really enjoy our stay in SM Mall of Asia. We even witnessed the fireworks in the Bay Area. I almost had a stiff neck.
Until we are about to leave the premises of SM MOA. Our Plan A was take a PUJ ( Public Utilitu Vehicle) and rode again we reached home 3 PUJ Routine. Plan B was to take a taxi for more convenient travel going back home.
We were able to find one. Unfortunately, the taxi driver said that he is not into metered one. And I think he likes to have a contract or deal fare with him.
Which we dont like, because he might charge us costly than what we use to pay if we took PUJ Route. I reported the taxt driver to LTFRB but no response or acknowledgment from LTFRB until now.

I don't like taxi drivers who don't agree to a metered fare. I remember my experience once in NAIA 3. I was supposed to fly Zest Air and didn't realize I was in the wrong terminal, I went to the old domestic terminal via taxi. The cab driver was so cunning. He took my bags first and put them into the back of the car and wouldn't even answer my question directly about how much it would cost me. Imagine he only offered me the price contract when I already got in. The price from T3 going to the old domestic terminal was 600PhP. What a d-bag.

I didn't want to be late for my flight. I didn't have the energy to argue with him. Others should be warned about abusive drivers. My Canadian ex-boyfriend years ago when it was his first time to travel to the Philippines and he had really unpleasant things to say about taxi drivers here.

I just hope the authority responds to your complaint or else try to report it on media like ABS CBN. Next time try to take a shot on your camera to have evidence. This is the right time to be a concern citizen to lessen the abusive driver like him.

Not yet because the verifying task is not available here in our country but I think in India it is available.

tsk, this type of behavior should not be tolerated, I hate these kind of drivers.
hope you follow through on your complaint and you should do one better and post this guy's company and plate number on facebook etc.--- just state that you've filed a complaint against him for not using the taxi fare

You may contact the operator and report that driver or tell the taxi owner that you will report them to authorities.
How come the taxi is running on the road without any meter.
This is ridiculous and annoying

Well, I am not sure how the Taxis are there, but around here most of them are metered and are not covered if their meter is not on in case of an accident, but then there are other companies around here that are Flat Rate and only charge a certain amount depending on where you are going.
Since you did not know how much it was going to cost you, you probably made the smart decision, and were better off. Did you ask if he had any idea how much he was going to charge you? And since no one seemed concerned, there might not be any rules there for doing this as well.

you were trying to ride a taxi with a seating capacity of 5? i think that is an opportunity that the taxi driver saw? that is you and your family would be desperate to try to go home and no taxi would allow you in because they will be caught if they overload.
I think then, that is what has happened, but of course we all do not want taxis that are this, trying to get more earnings especially when people are susceptible to take the bite!

Oh well what can you really expect from LTFRB unless you go there and formally file a complaint. I am just wondering how you reported this to LTFRB? Did you call or you reported to the field personnel roaming around?
They do have text number where you can report that but I do not know how effective is that.

Some taxi drivers in my country also do the same. They prefer charging passengers based on haggled price, which is actually higher than that based on meter.

Hi,
Maybe the LTFRB has not yet gone over your report, maybe it went into the wrong table, maybe they have done something about it without your knowledge. I think it is not necessary to be informed that they have done something about your report but sometimes a little acknowledgement like "We received your report, shall do something about it ASAP," even if ASAP means a very long time or nothing at all. Try to take the trouble of following it up there and see which of my "maybe's" hit the mark.

So what happened syoti after that? Were you able to get a taxi with meter.
Maybe you should follow-up your report to LTFRB. It's was Christmas Season yet that time, so the LTFRB officials might still be on vacation so you have to follow-up your report.

Oh, this is so common in the Philippines LOL, I have had my experience in such drivers and they are totally rude sometimes, they stood up despite that they are really wrong, but we don’t have any choice because we had rode such terrible taxi drivers.
But as there is strict implementation to public transportation laws in my city, there are a few cases that have such rude taxi drivers. And sometimes, such petty activities are done through night shift workers because there are no traffic enforcers on such road hours.

hi syoti wow an unmetered taxi driver. I had never herd of that til now. In other words they set their own price.oh I would hate that as cabs here in the US are already pricey. But I have never met one who did not have a meter. I would refuse to take that cab.

Hiya syoti,
Sounds an awful lot of money too. Here although we have taxis with metres they usually take advantage if they can see that you do not know the area. What they do is to divert themselves from their usual route and take you around other streets which is obviously going to cost you more money.
But they do not tell you anything they just point to the metre if you protest.
Last time that happened to me I stated perfectly where my house was and he ignored me went all the long way round and charged me a bomb.
What did I do? Go walking instead.xxx
