Nope...the house is not on fire....but I just started up the oven and forgot that when my granddaughter was here for Christmas that the cheese on our pizza we shared spilt over and stuck to the bottom of the oven! So now I have a kitchen full of smoke! I opened the back door but it's too chilly to leave it open for long....I seriously need to remember to clean the oven!!! Have you had this happen to you too? Spills on the oven floor?

Just recently actually. I made Mostacholli. Chesse boiled over. But luckily I line the oven bottom with foil so it's not a clean up process, just a rip & replace. I caught it before it started to burn/smoke because I smelled it.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I have done the same thing! When this has happen it has been in summer or spring. I am lucky I have or can open the windows! I also have a window fan. It has intake and an exhaust switch. I will put the fan on exhaust to get the smoke out! Later I spray the kitchen with Glade spray to make sure the smell is gone!

Yes, and it's no fun at all. My kitchen is sort of away from the livingroom with a hall between the two. When this happened I didn't really know until I got up that the bottom of the stove was smelling and burning from whatever it was that spilled over. And yes, I had to open the windows too in the chilly weather so the smoke detector didn't go off. I cleaned it up as soon as I could.

All the time, but mine does not smoke usually.
My son came home from school today and said it smelled like pizza in the house because my sister had decided to make some corn bread and had turned the oven on to pre heat. We had pizza last night for dinner.

Horrible isn't it? I came home to find a really filthy oven but my son empoyes a lady to help in the house as we have the twins and she spent three hours getting it clean and sparkling. whilst she laboured on this, I was busy doing the extra washing - slip covers and cushion covers etc. I felt that I had to keep busy to encourage her to keep going I do hope that you find a wonderful oven cleaner that will do all the work for you

Ouch, that's painful! Cheese isn't easy to clean up once it's dry. I've always been careful to line the bottom of my oven with aluminum foil. It catches all the spills and reduces cleaning time. We recently had a new stove and oven installed. I asked the installer if it was ok to line the bottom of the oven and he said yes. Is so much easier to remove the foil and add new when something overflows. And foil won't burn so there shouldn't be any chance of fire. I don't envy your cleaning job.

Not the oven part, but I've created some heavy smoke! Last week I made my fire alarm go off. I couldn't get it to quit ringing, so I dismantled it. Unfortunately, after the smoke cleared I could not put that smoke detector back together like it was. I guess I'll wait until my dad comes over.

Yeah.. all the time. Usually with my burners though. I have an electric stove, and things can fall in under the burners. Last week a burner caught fire.
One time years ago, when I'd first moved out on my own, I attempted to make an angel food cake. But I didn't have a bundt pan. I don't know why I thought I could make it in a regular pan with a cup in the middle to create the hole. I'm actually surprised the cup didn't melt.. but I didn't realize at the time how much an angel food cake would rise. It was all over the oven.. everywhere!

that hasn't really happened to me, as idon't use my oven all that much since I live alone, and when I do use it, I put in a casserole for our church fellowship meal. I have however, had my stove top get food stuck to it that burned on, and it would stink, but not cause any smoke or the smoke alarm to come on. Take care, and have a good day.
