I wouldn't say I'm a ketchup fanatic, but how much do you like adding condiments to your meal? I wouldn't add it to my bowl of rice necessarily, but just the other day when I went to TGI Fridays my family gave me a weird look when I added ketchup on my mashed potatoes and mixed it with the grilled chicken.
There's nothing wrong with experimentation, and it turned out not that bad! Not to also mention, mashed potatoes are basically the same as french fries when there isn't as much oil & salt. Trying the ketchup with the mashed potatoes and grilled chicken was great.

I personaly do not like ketchup. Never have. My older brother puts on alot of the food he eats. My sister-in-law has said he uses ketchup so much it could be qualified as another food group! Now that is alot of ketchup! Crazy!

I just add ketchup to a chicken and egg. My favorite. I mean my favorite is chicken, he he. Its fine to experiment all. My sister is like that, but its not ketchup. Its gravy. A sauce from McDonald.

I wish I had gravy.. I'm probably be your sister, seeing as I want to experiment it with everything after I knew its awesome taste, though I haven't really had ketchup with eggs just yet.. Guess I'll be trying something new out this weekend! :D

I was at Red Lobster Tuesday and my friend ordered stuffed mushrooms and dipped them in ketchup, ewwww! He eats everything with ketchup though. I am not a big ketchup fan but people think I am gross for putting ranch dressing on everything.

I never had stuffed mushrooms with ketchup.. though a couple of days ago I went to outback steakhouse with my family and had it with this other sauce that tasted a lot like ranch dressing.. It's great!
At school my friend mixes ketchup with ranch dressing, then dumps his fries on them and eats it.. I don't know what to say about it, except maybe just not talk about it and continue on with whatever else to talk about!

I like ketchup love it on fries and somtimes rice. I have never put it on mash potatoes that's different I will try it on them, and it's good to try it differently, and you should have gave your family a weird look back, remember it's your thang do what you want to do.

Hmm, I can't really think of a soup that goes well with ketchup, aside from tomato soup. (I'm imagining adding ketchup in chicken noodle soup, and it's not going very swimmingly D: )

We use a lot of ketchup in our house. I swear the kids think its a food group. I haven't seen them use it on mashed potatoes yet, but they do use it on potatoe pancakes which are just fried shredded potatoes. As long as you enjoy go for it.

Yeah, I remember when I was younger. most of my friends loved adding ketchup to pretty much everything. It's almost as if ketchup is a certain side dish like Rice, and could pretty much be added to anything and taste delicious..
That's really not the case anymore, though the taste is absolutely nostalgic for me. :)

I am a ketchup fanatic but I don't add it to almost anything, I love it in fried foods only. I add a lot of ketchup specially spicy ones. The best ketchup is sweet blend tomato ketchup especially with french fries. I love ketchup with mayo too.

A different type of 'ketchup' that goes well with a bowl of rice is 'kecap manis'. Perhaps you've heard of that before? It's black, sweet, thick and made of soy bean. Here it's rather known in south-east Asian dishes. I use tomato sauce or ketchup with grilled chicken as well as with other more common food such as burgers, hot dogs, nuggets, and of course, french fries.
