I have gained 2o lbs this last year. I can't lie and say that I have really been trying to lose weight. I need some incentive. I like being 120 and have ballooned up to 140. I am only 5'3" so I am teetering on the over weight mark. I only have tried not eating and that leaves me very hungry and then I over eat. What kind of things have you tried to lose weight that work? I know diet and exercise is the key, but how do you get your mind set on it?

I can understand where you are coming from. I'm about 5'1 and was at 145. I was so dissappointed in myself. I'm now down to about 120 so I'm moving in the right direction. I try to eat better. Unfortunatly I like food. So not eating would never work for me. I also walk. Everyday unless it is raining. I started out good and then I gave up. The weight crepted back up a little. So now what I do is go for my walk and I have a friend on facebook and she does the same and we Im each other when we're done. I find that I feel guilty now if I don't go for my walk and she does so its my incentive to go every day. I started out small and now I'm up to almost 2 miles a day and I really feel better. Just keep looking until you find what is right for you. Good luck

I know where you are coming from, I love food. We have a wii, and I was thinking about buying the wii fit. I have small kids so it's hard to exercise cause they are so needy all of the time. I used to walk and jog all the time but now live in a not so good neighborhood. I never made a New Years resolution cause I know that that is just plain silly, you have to want it and it is silly to say you will start New Years Day. But I am ready now.

Understand about the little kids. Thats were most of my problem started. The wii is great for exercise. Anything that gets you moving. When the kids were little and I couldn't take them out for walks because it was too cold or whatever we would put music on and danced for half an hour. Best part when we were done mom was sweaty and ready for a shower and the kids were ready for nap time. The other thing I did and it sounds really silly but my sister loves to call and she goes on forever. I gotten into the habit of never sitting down when i'm on the phone. Instead I pace around the house. So the hour on the phone with her is an hour i'm moving. Everything adds up. Just remember it took a long time to put the weight on and it will take a long time to get it off. Don't be to hard on yourself if it doesn't happen as fast as you expected. Good luck

Oh my goodness, I know what you are saying about being on the phone and pacing around, I do this too! My biggest problem I think is my computer and being exhausted when I get home from work. The worst, is that i won't even be hungry and I will still eat. Guess I do it out of boredom. I think the trick for me is getting into the right mind frame and sticking with what I want. Good luck to you, looks like you are going in the right direction.

My little sister did the same thing. So last month, she started walking and drinking tons of water. When she was hungry she grabbed a piece of veggie like celery. Over a month she lost 15 lbs. Try it...

I drink water like crazy. I think the hardest thing is to stay away from the foods that my children eat.

I have also gained weight these past months. I need to lose weight because I do not want to buy a whole new wardrobe. Everything seems so tight these days. I do not have time to exercise so I am thinking of just eating less carbohydrates and more vegetables and fruits.

I completely understand your situation. I'm 4'11 and I weight 132. I'd like to get down 110. I don't look big at all but I just like how I look at 110. So I too am on a diet. I'm going to say though that starving yourself is not going to work. Because like you said you start to overeat and that is just going to make you gain more weight. What I have done and I think I will get back to doing, is counting calories. I've counted calories and I've lost weight that way and on top of that I exercise. What I have done now is cut out on the junk food cause that is my main reason for gaining weight. I try and find a healthy alternative when I want something salty like chips, I find cashews help me so I eat cashews instead of a bag of chips. I haven't found anything healthy for a replacement for chocolate, but I think I may just get fruits for that and eat more fruits and veggies. I had a friend at work, who said she ate what she wanted if she ate junk food, then she would work out extra to work off the extra calories that she ate. My other point that I want to give you is don't give up on it and keep at it until you get the results you want and if you mess up its okay. My incentive is I want to look good in a bikini when it comes summer time lol.

You need to put focus on your determination to lose weight. Remember that there is no easy way on losing some pounds so, you need to put you’re a-game on your goal to have weight loss.
Losing weight is not as easy as you think: Don’t rush on things, try to adjust your body once step at a time to your new diet plan. Give at least a day or two that you system will get used to what diet method you are doing, be it working out or cutting down your meals.
The greener, the better: Veggies is one great detoxifier and weight loss agent that you can depend on aside from medications green leafy veggies and fruits rich in vitamin c is a great way to eliminate body fat.

I so know what you mean!!!! I was overweight for 6 years after i had my daughter. I felt so blah and couldn't stand to look in the mirror. Then one day I just said this is enough!!! I just started walking. 30 minutes each day fast walking. Then my best friend introduced me to Herbalife, 40 pounds later I am I am happier then I have been in years. I am healthy and loving life. Now I help other people to become healthier using Herbalife as well as using it to making money! these last 2 years of my life have changed everything. I started my own business, i got married, I am just loving life

I don't know how the idea of starving one's self as a way of losing weight became embedded in some people's minds. It is a foolish thing to do.
I have never tried to lose weight. I don't need to, because I have always been thin. I eat a fairly healthful diet, and I eat when I am hungry. If that means snacking three or four times a day (often mini-meals in themselves), that is what I do.
Healthy eating is a way of life. Diets do not work; permanent lifestyle changes do.
Eat when you are hungry. Don't overeat. Practice moderation.

I was really determined this past Christmas season that no matter how much i eat of those rich foods, i will not gain more than 3 pounds.
And lo, after Christmas, i weighed 127 lbs. 2 lbs. higher than my previous of 120 lbs.
Now, i am trying to lose at least 2 pounds. Thus , i am trying the 8 - 6 diet, wherein after 6 pm, i don't eat anymore, except for water and a fruit. I also exercise.

I did Atkins and lost a lot of weight by that. Since I gained as well (also thanks to meds) I try something new now (HCG, iodine, etc etc it all does not make me lose 1 gramm) together with my son (and the rest has to join). We eat mostly fruit and vegetables. Hardly any carbs. and no wheat.
breakfast is a fresh made smoothie and/or 1 piece of fruit plus white or green tea. We have about 6 small "meals" a day so we are not hungry. We do not eat bread, pizza, spaghetti, pancakes, etc anymore. Also no candies, pies, cookies, chocolate, sugar, transfat (so only real butter or oil), hardly any milkproducts (if yoghurt). My kids don't seem to long for candies anymore. It's our 3rd week. My son already lost 5 pounds or a bit more (it's going slower with him now), I about 3 (hope that will last as well). We also seldom eat meat. I want to change our food habits into more healthy, less toxic and in a way we are able to keep it.

true hard thing to do is to lose weight fast and in short time to make your habit of eating less than before its not really real to do so, so it will need hard work and suffering also to stop your self eating large amounts, oh tried it and its so hard

Morning loosing weight is all about a balance between energy intake and energy out put.
Your energy output must be greater than energy input.
Things that improve energy output are exercise and more exercise.
They are various forms of exercise
1. Brisk walking.
2. Swimming.
3. Free arm exercise especially is you are very obese.
4. Running- especially on soft surface; park not on the road or pavement, it damage your knee in the long run.
5. Going to the gym but that is expensive in the long run.
Before doing any form of exercise you should check your doctor.
Things that decrease energy input are.
1. Try and eat less, if you eat a big plate of food eat 3/4 of it. Try to eat three times per day with the evening/night meal being just a snack. The reason why is that your work load has reduced during the night and you do not need that much calories.
2. Try to eat less carbohydrates; no sugar in your tea/coffee, avoid sodas and cakes.
3. Eat more leafy vegetables.
4. Eat more organic foods; try to grow a little food in your garden.
5. Eat more nuts and berries.
6. Drink more water, especially filter water.
Good luck in loosing your weight.
If any of you have any medical conditions like diabetes, hypertension or mild heart problems diet and exercise will help you but speak with your doctor first.
Bye for now.
Please let me know what you think and if you have any questions for me.

Hi. I have seen my brother losing weight, hence, I would suggest few points that worked with him:
1)Set realistic and small goals, one at a time (do not stop eating! just eat small meals at interval of every 2 hours, and avoid eating heavy lunch, dinner, etc.)
2)Always think positive, and appreciate small achievements (reward urself with clothes or anything else u like)
3)mild exercise never hurts.. walk, jog, dance, gym, anything you like
4)find an exercise companion (it is always fun to exercise with someone else)
