A white world

No, this is not a political statement. It snowed. When I wake up and find all the fields are white and the trees are etched in white, there is a feeling of quiet and everything feels unreal. Then I put on layers of cloths, bind my head up, gloves on
and boots, and get the shovels out. Reality sets in and all is real again. Does snow effect you this way?

Yes, it does. Snow is healing somehow, and quiet and peaceful. It covers all the ugly and only leaves the graceful and clean lines, both in the physical world and the spiritual one.
I enjoy shoveling snow because it's an excuse to be out in it. I've been known to shovel snow while it's still snowing.

Usually in January we get the bad weather, it's just wondering when, you know it will come and each morning you wake up expecting everything to be covered white, it lulls you into a false sense of security, because you think you've escaped it and then suddenly out the blue, bash the perils of snow have landed!

I have always wanted to experience seeing snow. I live in a tropical country so that is impossible to happen here.
When I was a baby, I had pictures of myself with snow. I was born in Japan. But too sad, I was so young I have no memories of it.

I remember I was very excited for snow to come and when it did, my excitement lasted only for few days. I realized it's not easy to walk on snow when it becomes ice on the road, it's very cold and wet but the most I hated is when it's melting, I don't like to walk on wet road where my shoes gets muddy. Snow is beautiful to watch..white trees, white roads, white rooftops but in reality it's not so fun like we imagine.

I felt similarly when I traveled to Zurich in winter a few years back. It was freezing :)

I love snow, especially when i was a little girl, because we could play in the snow with my friends, it was very interesting. And also snow is very good to the crops, so farmers also love snow.

It has been so long since we have had that much snow. It is very surreal when it happens, though. It is still a massive amount of work and quiet at the same time.

Hi savypat, we are now in the midst of the worse snowstorm of the season and it is expected to get worse, before it passes in about 24 hours. The winds are high as well and are expected to reach more than 100 km overnight. Some are saying it will be the worse storm of the century. So far, so good, we still have electricity. We have a neighbour who has promised to clear our driveway when the storm is over, and since I'm still recovering from the flu, I'm grateful for any help I can get. Blessings.

I have had my share of snow in my life. I can no longer deal with it anymore. I dread the first snow we will get here in NYC. I am no longer a fan. I know it looks nice when it first falls. But the clean up is horrid. And it interferes with anything I have to do.

You took the words right out of my mouth. When I first see everything in snow I think to myself about how beautiful everything looks, but like you I then how to get all bundled up, get out the shovels & start shoveling the driveway. Last time it took me & my Mother in law a little over two hours to shovel out the driveway. We both hurt & ached just about everywhere afterward. So yes, reality kicks in real quick when you have to shovel all that beautiful white fluffy(heavy) snow.
