I just watched the Live action version of Ruroni Kenshin and I was in tears of Joy when I watched it because they followed the Anime , its more of a summarized version of the first season of the Anime but the movie gave it Justice. I guess its good because Hollywood didn't do it. The casting is really great, the actors they choose really remind me of the characters.
That movie adaptation proves that good live action versions can be done well without offending the fans, we know lots of directors make try to change everything when they make live action versions of comics/anime/videogames/books and cartoons because they want to cater to the casual audience.
This movie proved you can make a live action version of an anime that can impress the casual audience without offending the fans.
Until now I am angry that about that terrible Dragonball hollywood movie. Not only they whitewashed Goku, they turned him into a nerdy emo.

This movie is by far the best movie adapted from anime. they stick to the characters, there were slight changes but it's not that offensive.
I find the movie boring though because there is so much talk and little action. Don't get me wrong, the action scenes were superb and realistic. Kenshin actor is so cute. Many of them lack the characters' humor though and I think the movie doesn't have enough music to go with it. I think that would have kept me from yawning.
But I love how good the costumes are done! and the set was really good! I love the shabushabu scene!(the one where kenshin was eating, I was angry when those guys showed up and kicked the food!!) Ah, but sanosuke is not as tall as I would have imagined... but he's a good actor.
they must have toned down the animated characters because they don't want to go overboard. This is live action after all.
But, I'm so relieved that it wasn't a bad adaptation!!
I didn't like the dragonball hollywood movie too. Piccolo was so messed up, I can't take him seriously even when he is the bad guy there.

can you imagine hollywood doing this? they will change a lot of things and change roles of certain characters and most likely they will hire white actors for Asian male roles as Hollywood have that casting habits when it comes to certain iconic asian roles. the actors in the dragonball hollywood movie admitted themselves, this movie ruin their careers.

Hollywood loves desexualizing Asian men, They love portraying the as geeky losers or martial art movie goons. They wont want them as strong individuals and romantic interest. Actually I think Gangnam style's popularity in America is a propaganda, I mean because Kpop is starting to get global, The people in the American Music industry decided to make someone who is unattractive to be popular in the west before a good looking Kpop male gets to penetrate the west so it wont kill the desexualization they started,
If this is Hollywood, all female characters will remain Asian but all lead ale characters will be portrayed by whiteguys as Hollywood producers thinks Asian men are not marketable and should be desexualized.

LOL, really, the dragonball actors did that? Well, they shouldn't have involved themselves in the movie. I think a live action made by hollywood wouldn't work especially when one uses actors that are not of the same ethnicity as the characters they are portraying.
By far, Rorouni is the best live action I have seen. I think the fans would pull out their samurai swords and slash at Hollywood if they mess this up. That would be bloody, we don't want that.
I'm scared to think what hollywood would do to this if they got their hands on it. But warner brothers did help in this movie, right? I think the effects were good, commendable.

Before I watched, i was skeptic because the Hollywood adaptation of Dragonball and many videogames is just traumatic, they ruined my childhood, as in I want top strangle the director but this is one I just good. watching a good live action adaptation is something I never thought I will never experience in my lifetime. that director is good, he respected the fans. The fight scenes are very sophisticated.

I have the same, exact, sentiments. And, yes I could almost cry when I watched! To borrow from a review I read, it was spot on. For me, the best thing that ever happened in 2012 was Rurouni Kenshin! (And it was the worst year of my life, too. )
It was so true to life, it was scary. Himura's moves and mannerisms (oro?), the leeriness of Kanryu, even Saito's gatotsu...OMG... I read a review that said, the way Kenshin moved, ran, jumped and slept was how it was in the anime.
And, yes, thank God it was the Japanese who did it! I hope they make another movie, season 2 (and yeah, alright some episodes in season 3). And please, please feature Aoshi this time!

They have so many sagas to choose from and he fact they did justice to the first season really impresses me,They can do sequels and prequels without worrying e as they did justice to the first one. Thank od its not Hollywood who touches this, or else our childhood will be ruined.
