It is not as if Foreign coaches have not helped Indian team. We have had Gary Kirsten, and earlier John Wright who helped India to some good wins. Yet, we have had Duncan Fletcher and Greg Chappell, who did not make Indian team perform as well. Why not try an ex-Indian like Saurav Gangulay, Anil Kumble(looks best for the job), Rahul Dravid? Why this fixation for foreign coaches?
Any comments?

I completely agree with that. But the reality is that there is so much politics in the Indian game that getting a manager and captain from India to work together is a tough ask as both are pulling chains behind the scenes. With a foreigner at least one of them is less political. Having said that if you are getting a foreigner why go for a Duncan Fletcher who is at best a mediocre team coach!!
Cheers!

I too have read in the past regarding politics and regional bias in case of Indian coaches. Yet, we also had people like Ajit Wadekar who had a great coordination with captain and team and made the team do well.

Duncan Fletcher as a coach proved as a disaster for Indian team. He is totally failed in lifting the spirits of the team and he is more flop than Greg Chappell. But there were coaches like John Wright and Gary Kirsten which transforms the Indian cricket. John started it with Ganguly and later Gary continued that awesome work with Dhoni.
And I think the board should now give a chance to Saurav Ganguly as a coach because that man can certainly lift the team and there are some news coming that board is considering his name as a coach. Lets see

Is it so, let us see how things go, and may be we would have Saurav Ganguly soon at the helm of affairs of Indian team.

For me Sourav Ganguly is the man, he has shown desire to become a coach of India team. In future, he is surely going to coach India. Anil Kumble can be our spin coach.
Every body have foul-mouth for Greg Chappel, but he is the one who created fear in Indian senior players that you have to perform consistently to remain in the team.
