What is this, Minnesota?

Went outside today, and everything was frosted over. The temperature outside was high 20's, low 30's. So much for California weather. It was quite cool to see the frost everywhere though. Not what I'm used to (Southern California baby living in Northern California). Brrrr..... Ok, now this is where all you people in colder climate can come in here and razz me about being a wus. Personally I prefer my Los Angeles winters where it sometimes gets up as high as 70 or more, and the I get to razz everybody.

I think Minnesota is a state in the northern part of the US. Am I right? That is the technical answer to your headline, now it is normal to feel cold when you have walked from the southern part to the northern part. I have not traveled to US much so that is all I can say about it.

That's correct, and it's a much colder climate than here in California.

Yeah you are right, it will be better to live there in the summer. California has beaches too, that is another advantage of it. Do you have home at the two places?

Oh shush! 70's weather there. Ugh! Last week we had some real frigid weather here down in the single digits. My poor ole car squeeled big time one morning I was driving my grandson to school. But this week it is up in the 30's or mid 20's. I live in a valley so most of the snow is in the mountains and we don't get much here. Until this year that is.

It's been pretty chilly down here too . . . BIZARRE! The other day I was dropping off my daughter to school, and we found an area with ice all over the sidewalk and gutter - people were literally slipping on it (this is where my skating experience helped - ha ha). Apparently there were other ice patches around . . . could it really get THAT cold in the Valley . . . it was surreal. There was frost on lawns and people having take the ice off their windshields. This ain't no Southern CA weather - where'd that LA winter weather go?! I'm layering up my clothes A LOT - and I realized I didn't really have a lot of winter clothes (never really needed them). Still, I guess, this is nothing compared to real winters elsewhere!!

I didn't complain much when it dipped into the high 50s. Started donning a sweater indoors at 55 and really started complaining when it dipped into the 40s. I was starting to lose circulation in my far extremities. Now I'm comfortable with the weather than when I first moved back up here a few years ago. Even now at this hour of the morning, it really isn't that bad (Sleep is evading me tonight.) but am wearing socks to stop the bad circulation. The temperatures at your place are not too different from me here in Carmichael. The day we get back up to about 65 that's what it will be nice.

I lived in California for a few years as a child, and a couple of summers over the years we would go back and visit old friends. And we always got a laugh when people would relay stories about it getting to 70 degrees in California and people putting on jackets. I have GOT to believe that's an exaggeration. But here, unless it's under 55 degrees, I don't even bother with a coat or jacket.

Reason number 1 why I wouldn't handle Sourthern Cal, No change in weather. I can understand you not liking frost and cold. I don't like frost and cold but it is a great price for the joy that comes once it is spring!

Actually, it's quite springlike in southern Ontario this week... a little rainy today, but not cold at all. Newfoundland, however, is another story.

You are being a woos. 20's is pretty cold but 30's feels like a heat wave here after the below zero weather we've been having. You would just not handle it where I am at. Last week was painfully cold. I'd go out with my daughter in the morning and I would tell her to make sure we got all we needed while we were out because I did not want to go back out again. Ineviteably, we'd get home and I would finally start to thaw and she'd go , "Mom, you are going to hate me but I for got diapers or baby wipes" or some other thing that we just could not ignore. The wipes, I think we could have improvised on but there was also something else that day like creamer for our coffee as well and I just braved it and went back out. What really kills me is the young people that walk around in this stuff half dressed!!

Here in Wisconsin we have had temps in the high thirdies and forties. Not a normal January so far! Tomorrow we are going to go back to the twenties. Usually January we are suppose to have more snow and cold for this time of the year! Darn that gobal warning! It seems winters are not normal anymore! Anywhere!

I had to check that one out for Fahrehheit..lol...are you serious? I mean...out here, its 20 to 30 degrees centigrade in daytime, and nights touch 15...that is about as low as we can get...summers are blistering hot...almost 45 degrees centigrade. The climate suits papa...and rains are very time bound...in the sense they make sure they appear when people are leaving for workplace, and accompany people back on return journey. Otherwise, the rest of the day is quite bright and sunny. We really dont know autumn...rains just spread across autumn.

Personally I hate the heat! It just doesn't agree with me, my moods crash when it gets too hot so I prefer the Winter and Fall months when it's nice and cold. If I had the money I would escape our heat for a colder country. Mind you we certainly don't get the higher temperatures you get in California!

I am a cool climate kind of girl. I don't do well in warm climates, which was quite clear as I spent a year in Florida. I like being in a place with four seasons, and I like having a real winter. Temperatures in the 20s and 30s are how I think that winter should be.

his is a strange winter. In my country today it was about 0 degree Celsius or 32 degree Fahrenheit. Last winter we had a lot of snow and temperatures below 14 F. But it was a dry weather. Now it's a wet winter and it feels colder.
